This is a diet developed by Kaiser medical insurance. It is really pretty basic here is the idea:

Follow the food pyramid guidlines which is to use fats sparingly, milk products and protein in smaller amounts, veggies and fruits in larger amounts and carbs in high amounts.

They say to take your goal weight and times it by 10 to get the calories you need to eat per day for example a goal weight of 150 would equal 1500 calories per day as a goal weight of 180 would be 1800 calories.

They also say breakfast is very important to a good diet and to NOT go to low on your calorie intake as that can stop the weight loss rather then help it.

Hey thanks CaliSunshine. I just found a web-site with the pyramid and some more helpful hints if anyone wants it. http://www.ring.com/health/food/food.htm. I didn't read through it just printed it out and I will read it tonight.

That idea sucks for me, about taking your goal weight and times it by 10 to see how many calories you can eat in a day! I am currently at 125 at 5'3, and I want to tone up more and loose another 5lb, so that means I can only have 1200 calories a day!!!!!!!! It is definatly do-able, with cereal like special k for breakfast and either that again at lunch or fruit and a salad and then protien with supper, I guess it just put into perspective what the reality of it is for me. Okay, so it dosen't suck, I take that back. It makes a lot of sense actully because eating more carbs fills you up a lot so you are not more hungry, therefore taking in less calories.

Thanks for the info California Sunshine! I am over the "this sucks" thing now. LOL
