I need to figure out what is allowed to be sent and what isn't allowed to be sent to Avenal state prison in California. I want to send my boyfriend an 8x10 orange envelope with some letters in it and some pictures is the envelope to big?? If anyone knows about the mail at Avenal i would love to read all you know. I'm not sure about Avenal but I have sent mine large envelopes like that to Pelican Bay with envelopes for him in it,crossword puzzles,letters and legal forms and they have gotten in ok.I think every prison may be different though.Can you call the mail room and ask if no one here can answer your question?

You can send larger envelopes with as many pictures as you like and letters ..remember NO STICKERS of any kind though or they will be returned to you!
You can enclose 2 notepads like legal paper - 20 stamps per letter, 4 bic type pens up to 20 enevelopes also.

I live out of state and usually send this stuff via priority enevelope with the FLAT RATE that is 3.85 for me to ship and it arrives in 2-3 days and he normally gets it in about 2 days afterwards unless someone forgets about a bin of letters and then it is like a week later.
