On top of that latley I have been praying and focousing on God I don't know if you ae religious or not but scripture teaches us beutiy is from within..:)I am sure youalready know this, but yeah I have been through this..And when I postd about it everyone trhat replied had said that they had the same prob.Once he's home you'll shed th pounds take care..

Thanks you guys, and Ashley I agree with you, beauty is from the inside but I sure do like my tight jeans! I'm not making fun here, but I think a piece of this is a control issue for me. I have always taken care of myself and since he went back last year I just feel like my life is so torn apart, in every way.. I work in Administration and quit my job (couldn't handle the pressure) and now I work as a waitrss. Not that it's a bad thing, but I am an emotional mess, and the eating thing is a symptom, I know that, but I can't seem to get a grip.. I to, have a strong faith, and ask for guidance everyday, but I'm real good at taking my will back and it comes out in the form of food, food food... LIke California said...Eat, eat, eat.. Ohhhh maybe I'll try the Atkins....Again!! Thanks

Been there done that and dang it I am doing it again. I have a love affair going on with food and sugar. I am addicted to sugar. I get mean as ever whe I don't have it. I will drive to the corner store for candy bars -- snacks and chips. Although lately I have been eating the heck out of Cheetos the crunchy ones. Dang they are good. And root beer floats made with real vanilla ice cream.
Well since I last saw my man the weekend of July 4th I have gained between 10 -15 pounds. When I am stressed I eat. When I am excited I eat. When I am lonely I eat. Hell I eat just cause it is there.
Now try exercising it helps and it works. It is easy for me to tell you to try it -- but as for myself I am too busy snacking to walk. I got more excuses than Carter got liver pills to walk. Or if you have access to a pool swimming laps is wonderful exercise. And it will tone up the flab real fast and strengthen your muscles.
Cut back on the snacks and try eating healthier.
And the biscuits and gravy -- OMG -- girl friend back away from that table. I know it is hard. And yes as some one said "beauty does come from within". But you should want to loose the weight for yourself. Dang as I am typing this to you I am reading and re-reading it -- I guess I should follow my own self advice.
You don't so much have to diet -- just eat more fruits and veggies, and walk or swim on a daily or at least several times a week. Don't worry you will in time shed those unwanted pounds. It took a while to put them on and it will take a while to remove them. Happy exercising!!

Sassysistah, Thank you so much, oh Lord, I haven't laughed like that in a while, Cheetos huh?? LOL I'm into the Fritos and cheese dip!! I think it's this darn computers fault, everytime I get into from of it, I eat, he**, I can eat and type at the same time!!! LOL OMG, I am losing it!! Anyways thanks so much, and I will get this off, time, just like you said, it takes time... Thanks for the laugh.. Cheetos.....................LOL

Briansbutterfly, I am glad I was able to make you laugh, but honey I was as serious as cancer in what I said. Right now I am sitting here at the computer it is almost 11 o'clock and I am fighting with myself about driving to the corner store for some Cheetos. Now I got the root beer and ice cream in the frig. See I need to walk to the corner store -- heck I live in a safe neighborhood. And besides I need the exercise. And then I got my doggie with me that barks over here and bites over there. So I never worry about being attack. Besides I need a good scuffle. I might even work off a few calories.
So you can type and eat -- girl friend you just busted my bubble I thought I perfected the art of eating and typing. Thanks to PTO I got it down pat. Well it is break time and 7/11 down at the corner is calling out my name.

LOL Girls I just woke up and ate some Fritos! Bad bad bad!
Anyways I was on a diet that was really simple,it just followed the food pyramid nutritional guidelines...Low fat,mid protein and milk products, higher carbs, fruits and veggies and I lost about 40 pounds in 6 months.I need to do it again once I get over my OINK OUT phase unfortunatly right now I have zero motivation even though the man comes home in 3 months!

Well, I am not the most disciplined where diet is concerned, that's why i HAVE TO work out... it takes a while to kick in, but after a few months you get a lot more slack if you excercies a lot. I am losing slowly this year, but very surely. And even when I'm not losing, everything is kind of re-arranging itself on my body, things are moving where they should be LOL :D

Plus I eat salads all the time to balance out the CHeetoes -- my fave!

I am going through the same thing. Part of myself tells me 'Oh, you have 4 years left, plenty of time to lose weight'! I have to stop that dang inner voice. I am trying to watch my total fat and saturated fat. My friends son did that this summer because he was getting high marks in the sugar and cholestral field. From May to Aug. he lost 30lbs not even trying. We'll see if it works. My bad thing is at night, for there is nothing that I do but sit and watch cartoons with my son.

I agree with you Qwerty--exercising has to be a big part of the plan. I have lost 100 pounds over the past year and exercise has been the kiey to keeping the weight off. I have days when I eat any and everything that I want to eat; but I just don't do that everyday! I try to exercise 3-4 days a week for at least an hour. Another tip--don't focus too much on the numbers of the scale, measure yourself too and watch those inches go down too.

1Sassysistah -Thanks for cracking me up!

Have you ever noticed that the more you think you have to loose weight the more you want to eat?

"loose weight vs' not caring" I think California Sunshine hit on something here. Maybe it's the depression that should be taken care of first?

Boy did you ladies make feel so GOOD. I thought I was the only one that ate like that and the only one who could eat and type at the same time while on PTO. I was thinking this morning MY GOD have I put on the weight when my husband ring can't even fit on my index finger. And especially wearing Tshirts with Capri pants because they are so much more comfortable. Beside I think " he has probably just got transfered to his prison in texas and then we have florida to deal with, So I am looking at least two years. I have plenty of TIME to loose this weight, yea right. Last night I ate real healthy then at 10:00 while on the computer ate fritos, cheetos and 3 peanut butter half sandwhichs. Cool Huh, Love Jeanne

Unfortunately I don't have the weight gain issue, I have the weight loss issue. My man was incarcerated 1-12-2004. At the time of his incarceration I weighed 155 pounds. I'm 5'4" tall. 8 months later (today) I weigh only 93 pounds. The stress is incredible. I am not able to eat and will go 3 days without a drop of food to eat. Fortunately I have a few really good friends who have stepped in and threatened to force feed me if necessary to help me gain some weight.

One thing I did do was start drinking ALOT of water with lemon in it. Natural diaurtic, and start walking. But do not let this get out of hand. I am to the point now with my weight that the dr. wants to put my in the hospital.

Good luck hun.

I seem to be able to do both. ??? I don't really understand it myself. Yesterday the bakery was silently calling me to buy some donuts and so i did. a bakers dozen and I ate 1/2 of them and the kids and their friends ate the other half. The box of cheezits is almost empty, after 4 days. I just ate a banana, which makes me feel better. :)
I've been losing weight cuz of stress and not eating for days on end, but then my body says 'feed me' so i pig out. 3 days, yeah, but that's the norm for me too, after stuffing myself. my waist is getting a little smaller, my thighs too and breasts, but I like my butt, so I hope it doesn't disapear.
I got 2 free weeks at curves w/ my mom, which is over now and i'm going to start jogging after school starts. my kids aren't a fast as i am and i don't want to go slow. my fave are the krave bars (choc & peanut butter), pringles, plain tuna and McDonald's breakfast burritos.

I had put a lot of weight on in the first two years of my marriage. (been married 3 1/2 now) I couldn't handle it any longer, I had gastric bypass surgery and have lost 60 pounds in ten weeks so far, plus I lost 30 on my own before the operation. There are days I wish I could snack like you guys are talking about but the pain and agony I would go through afterwards if I did is definitely not worth it. Hubby is the opposite of me, he eats and eats and doesn't gain weight. He said he has noticed a big change in my attitude lately (for the better). Only regret I have is that I didn't do it sooner!! Now it's time to get on an exercise plan since I've been given the okay to do so by my doctor.

Ladies! I must make a recomendation here...i joined Curves and LOVE it! I know $$ is a big issue for a lot of us here, and if it wasnt for my mom getting me a membership for my birthday i wouldnt have been able to join. So what i am saying is if you can join Curves then go for it! its great! and its only women, all the machines are hydrolic so no adjusting is necessary, just get on and work out. and you only need to go 3x a week! how cool, work outs are 30 min each and they fly by...woohoo! and it helps pass the time, another bonus. i love it! and im going again tonight. feel free to pm me is you want to talk more about it.

I hear you guys! I'm a mother of three and I've put on wieght during my last pregnacy{my baby wil be2}. I've never really lost the wieght from the other two so it just added to it. Now that I'm trying real hard to lose it I can't. When I me t my man I was wasn't exactally thin, but wasn't this heavy either. I want to try the Trimspa pills and join a gym but really don't have the money. Does Curves really work cuz I have one down the street and get coupons all the time. I'm trying to lose a good amount before 2006, when my man returns to me. My man does give me motivation and says he'll work out with me.:)

I enjoyed Curves a lot!!! It was a very friendly atmosphere and the staff was great on showing how to use the equipment. I'd go more if I had the $$ for a membership. I think the one I went to was about $400/yr.

Remember the word Diet, now notice the first 3 letters. You can die trying! I mean when you try ,you fizzle out in about 3 weeks, you say forget it, get depressed, then you eat more and gain back more weight and are heavier then when you started. I am overweight and have given up, but I am happy with myself and don't care anymore what others think. I have to only answer to myself (and to the doctor) but I have the word Diet out of my mind. Now I think 'Strengthing my Heart' taking my time. Eat better, drink water.

I'm so glad I found this thread. Lately, all it seems I want to do is eat. Before my man went in, I never ate sweets, never cared for them. Now, I can't get enough of them. I blame him for that because I make myself believe it's because of not having sex. Maybe the cravings will go away once he comes back! I exercise every day, I have been for almost 4 months. But because I've been eating so much, I haven't noticed a difference. If only I could lose 10 pounds...

YES:D i joined end june/beg july this year and lost 8 lbs, almost 5" and 13.80% body fat which means i built back muscle. i also didnt eat the greatest diet and it still works. if you can afford it, its definetly worth it, at least call them and make an appt to check it out. good luck:thumbsup:

hi y'all. i've learned in all my dieting fiascos that the only way to do it is to set your mind to eating right and exercising. it really doesn't take too awfully much. i've lost 15 lb in the last 1 1/2 mo it doesn't seem like much but as someone else put it when i'm not losing things are rearranging themselves on my body going where they should be. i have a lot more to go but i feel so much better. and all i did really was replace the chips and cokes with carrot sticks and water. and instead of driving to the corner store to pick up whatever take a nice brick walk. it's great. pushing the kids in a stroller has made my walks all that much healthier (it usually does when your pushing about 80 lb around). different things work for different people but no matter what you have to try. and you'll find what works for you.

NEW PTO RULE- NO EATING IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER!!!!
Do you realize you are training yourselves to associate the good feelings you get from the support at PTO with FOOD????? No wonder you can't stop eating!
Put down the FRITOS and step away from the keyboard...c'mon, you can do it....
Next time you approach the computer to chat with your friends, bring a big glass of water and carrot sticks. You are not paying attention to what you are eating anyway so you will never notice the difference (and your keyboard won't be so greasy...)
While you are surfing do a few butt clenches....a one, and a two.....
Seriously, since none of us are going out much it is easy to let yourself go - hell, he is ALWAYS going to tell you how great you look when you visit no matter how big you get. Just remember, he will be coming back into the real world and he'll be starving - in a lot of ways... You'll want to look your best, and you DON'T want to be fresh off some starvation diet when he comes home ready to pig out on all the stuff he has missed eating. You will really become a blimp then as your body rebounds....

Another thing never eat chips or anything out of the bag. You will grab and eat and before you know it the bag is gone. And you wonder where it went.
Always put a small portion in a bowl, before eating it.

I Envy You Wife03. I Think It Is Great That Even At The Size You Are At You Are Still Trying To Keep Your Body In Shape. I Use To Be In A Size 9 And Now I'm In A Size 14-16!!!! My Baby Likes A Thick Girl, But I Don't. I See That There Is Room For Improvement And I'm Also Trying To Lose Weight (20-30lbs). Wanting To Shape Up And Fix Something That To You Need A Let Repair, Isn't Funny, So The Last Thing I Would Do Is Laugh. I Don't Know How To Get Those Thighs Done Except Running, But As Far As The Stomache, Do Crunchies. Do About 40-80 (how Ever Many You Can Do) A Day You Will See Improvement, I Did!!! I Hope This Helps You And The Others Out, And If Anyone Has Any Other Tips Let Me Know. I Don't Like To Sweat (a Lot) So How Can I Tone My Legs With Minimum Sweating?

I thought maybe I was the only person to substitute Woody being gone with food. Anyways, since he's been gone 1year as of yesterday, i gained like 20 lbs. on and off I gain, then i'll loose, but the week after i came back from my cruise,(the 14th) i decided that i wanted to get back on a diet. and really it is not really a diet, but on the cruise i gained 7 lbs. (there is food everywhere) but i've been doing 1) breakfast- maybe a pan sausage and the egg whites, take the yellow out. and sometimes, maybe just watermelon. 2) for lunch - i eat either a can of tunafish and 5-7 saltine crackers or a BIG salad. 3) for dinner, i eat baked fish, or chicken, or boiled chicken. 4) for a late night snack (if i need it) its always watermelon. I was at 178 the day i got off the boat, i am now 169. ***And only exercised once since I've been back. I thought i could do that, but i can't so maybe if i'd do that with the plan i placed myself on alot more weight would have already been lost ; but for now i can't devote to the gym like that. ***** Almost 10 lbs, in 2 weeks, I'm loving it too, cause i have like another 20 to go.
