Just wondering what kind of things you bring your loved one when they go to rehab besides the obvious eg: Clothes, toilietries, ciggarettes.... I went crazy shopping for him. He's just been locked up for so long that I couldn't wait to spoil him with new clothes and such. Let me know what ya'll brought your loved one when they went to rehab. Thanks! Bye...

Each rehab center has their own rules about what a person can bring. A lot of places won't allow any toiletries with alcohol in them.
He should be provided with a list of what he can have.

Yep...Non alcoholic mouth wash, some don't allow collogne or perfume, because it has alcohol in them.
Shampoo,
Deodorant
razor
shaving cream
tooth paste
toothbrush
Brush
Enough clothes for about a week because of space there is not a whole lot of room for added extras and such.
a notepad
pens
envelopes
stamps
But also most will provide a lot of these things and salvation army has a clothes closet where he can get lots of NICE donations
Call the facility and ask or like mrs d said, have him send you what he can and can't have.
This is the time he is going to need to work on himself..there might be a 14-30 day blackout where he can't get phone calls and or visits.
I do want to stress that this is a really important time for him to find recovery from drugs and alcohol...not sure but often times they encourage them not to focus too much on friends and family even husband and wife..it's not that they are anti relationship but like I said, it is REALLY important for him to get acclimated to the program and my suggestion to you is find an alanon meeting and or naranon meeting in your area...the more you know about addiction and the more you work and focus on yourself the most supportive you can be to him and his recovery
Good luck to you both
