Today I got a letter from Adam. He's been on suicide watch on and off since his arrest and the letters have all been depressing. I really wasn't in the mood for another one today. Well, after reading it I was crying. He was sounding so positive and upbeat and told me he feels like he's at the crossroads of denial and acceptance. Then he got going about some crazy things that we had gone through together. He reminded me about his arrest for being on the street 5 minutes past curfew during the riots and I couldn't get him out because I was in Kentucky for a couple of days. When I got home, I got him out and let him have it for being home 5 minutes late instead of 5 minutes early. He understands now that I was trying to make him see the benifits of staying out of trouble, no matter what anyone else thinks. I filled out the visiting app and now am just waiting for it to be approved. I miss seeing him and he's only 45 minutes away so I'll be able to visit him quite a bit. I'm just glad his spirits are up. Just thought I'd share.

glad things are looking up for you, Lisa...some of us (that'd be me) need the lesson several times before we get it right...i like to think that i make the same mistakes over and over so i know without a doubt it was definately a mistake...its been awhile since one of my mistakes has put me behind bars...sounds like me and your boyfirend are catching on!!! yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

It's my nephew, but he's only 21 and took a plea, which gave him life plis 50 years. He did want to kill himself, but now he's more upbeat. I'm just glad to have him not talk about suicide in a letter.

It sounds like you and Adam are very close. You seem like an amazing Aunt, which is always good to hear. Adam is lucky to have you in his corner.

Adam lived with me while he was in college. I had so much fun when he was there. He's starting to get with the program and realize it's just a waiting game now.

I hope for the best for Adam. I hope things are better for him,

I hope he can keep his head up and stay strong for however long the process takes him.
