Well guys,I spoke with a lady named Sandra(I think)today in the victims unit.She was very nice and helpful.She pulled up Lee's AIS# and said that his file is in the process of waiting to get the info they need so they can set up his hearing date.I told her what Marti had told me a while back about since his victim has passed away since this happed she didn't think they would notify anybody else.She told me they(Not sure who they are)would decide if a next of kin would be notified.So I guess we are just waiting now for them to get their info together and see where we will go from there.Has anybody else had a similar deal with the victim?What process do they go through now since HB539 passed?Please any info would be GREATLY appreciated.:confused:

Lees...HB539 is not going to help yall...the first draft of the bill would have help, but after they got finished changing it around all it does is...employees that were involved in a violent crime do not have to be tracked down...thats all...

My friend that served time for manslaughter...of course the victim is dead so they notified the victims parnets sinces his children were minors...thats about as similar as i've seen......

Thanks Denise,I know the lady I spoke to said something about if that was the case(Victim deceased)and they decide to notify the next of kin they would give them like 30 or 60 days to respond.But when it all boils down we're still playing their hurry up and wait S#$*.I swear AL. can drive somebody totally and completely insane.I wish something,anything would happen and they would HAVE to get something done alout this backlog business.

I'm not familiar with the whole deceased victim thing but...I just wanted to let you know that you and Lee are in my thoughts and prayers!!! Keep us posted, girl!

Thanks Selena,But don't forget I think he's a little hard of hearing when it comes to us so you might have to hollar,LOL.I know he's listening to us all,he has to be there's been alot of good things happening around here lately.

I got the same thing when I called and talked with Joy. The victim (next of kin) had been located and we had a 30-60 day wait. I'm not even sure when the wait was to have started???
