It is my understanding that they are closing the visitation commisary and putting in more vending machines. That Stinks!!!

I have not heard that. I will be there this Saturday and I'll see if I can get some more info on it.

Do you know why? or when?

Thanks

I will be there Saturday, too. I go every week. I'll ask my friend Sheridan what's up. This is something new that my boyfriend told me about just this week. I'm not sure when it will go into effect. It has to do with the warden.

I'm going down to visit my husband this Sunday so I'll find out what I can also. Maybe he'll know something as he's currently the House Man for Barracks 7.

Spoke to honey last night and it might be a good idea to carry some quarters this weekend just in case. He seems to think they won't be open this weekend.? I don't know for sure but I would rather have the change and not need it than to be unprepared.

I was at Tucker this past Saturday, They have shut it down and are not expected to open back up. People were having change trouble then. Hope this helps.

I visited yesterday. It was a mess. There's not a change machine and from what I could tell, none of the vending machines took anything bigger than a one dollar bill. Better take lots of change and one's on your next visit.

Hi, my brother is an inmate at Tucker. We were down there last Saturday as we go every other week (again on the 4th) and the Concession is closed down  . We did find out though if you put a $5 bill in the ice cream machine it will give you quarters back in change...that helps but the lines are long and only 3 microwaves now.... ..they sure don't make visitiation easy do they ??? drive hours and spend all our time in lines.....

They have a change machine now, and two sandwich machines instead of one. It could be worse; there is only one microwave at Grimes.

Isn't that the truth! I guess that things could be worse.

Hi - I have a few questions about visitation (stuff i've heard but want to confirm)

What are the hours? 12-4? What time do they let you in the outside gate? (do you get to the visitation room before hours and wait on your loved one?)

Do they still have only the vending machines?

Are there no tables?

Are dresses not allowed?

Can the inmate stand in line with you at the window or vending machine?

thanks!

Visiting hours are from noon to 4:00 PM. The outside guard usually starts checking the cars in around 11:30. Visitation is in the gym and they do have chairs set up to sit in. Vending machines only and inmates are allowed to walk with you to the machines. Dresses are allowed as long as they come below the knee, show no cleavage and must have sleeves. You have to check in again when you get in the gym. There is a table with two inmates that take the person's name that you are there to visit. They will call the barracks that they are in to tell them they have a visitor. You wait for them in the gym. Usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes for them to get there after the barracks is called.
Hope this helps!

There are no tables. You can sit beside them. Most of the time, the Corrections Officers are pretty lenient. Matthew was able to put his arm around me and I could lay my head on his shoulder. I was able to rub is thigh and get a couple of extra kisses in.

Dont wear shorts, they wont let you in.

If possible, I would try and get there atleast 45 minutes early to get in line.

What barracks is your husband in? Mine is in #7. He's supposed to graduate from the program on the 18th and he works in the bus factory in the afternoons. Possibly they know each other? My honey's name is Bob McDonald.

I have a brother in Tucker unit, we visit every other Saturday. Visitation times are 12 - 4pm, lines are long so we usually get there around 12:30 and there isn't any waiting..The dress code says no dresses, but there are always women there in them but they are below the knee..
There are no tables at Tucker, nor is there a Commisary anymore, Vending machines and also a change machine..yes, the inmates are allowed to get in lines with you and walk around with you but not allowed to have direct contact with $....i hope this answers your questions and feel free to contact me if you need anything...do you have a loved one at Tucker ??

At cummins we can touch as much as we want, hug, kiss, etc. just have to sit with our legs under the table. Can we hold hands the whole time at tucker if it's above the table?

They don't have tables at Tucker and they usually make you sit side by side and not across from one another. Mostly you can hold hands or sit with your arm around them (on the back of the chair). It really depends on the guards for that day.

Well, i must say that visiting at Cummins was like a day at the park compared to visiting at Tucker. I had no idea I was spoiled!

My husband had his arm around me and i had my head on his shoulder and i THINK my elbow was resting on his thigh.. we were told to break it up. *sniff*
Also, there were no doors on the stalls in the visitation restroom. I was so appalled and a woman kind of made fun of me "if you're gonna be here, you better get used to it." Suddenly i felt like I was the inmate!

Visitation Hours: Either on Saturday or Sunday (depending on the first letter of the last name) from 12-4pm. (but they cut it 10 mins short at the end, and you never get to see your honey at 12 straight up because they start checking in very late)/

Before actually getting into the visitation room, you have to wait in your car til at least 11:30. This takes some time because they ASK you the make, model, year and color of your car, and they check your trunk. There's a trailer that says Inmate Family Ministries that I'll check out next time. There's also an outdoor restroom that i found much better than the inside restroom. After they check your car, you walk into the visition check in area and leave your license with them and go thru the metal detector. You then go through a series of security gates before actually getting into the visitation room. Once you get into the visition room you hand inmates a slip of paper you got when you checked in. The inmate calls your loved one's barracks and they'll come out in about 10 mins or so.

Once your loved one comes out, he has to stop at that table, and then he has to see the guard on duty and then he's all yours til about 3:50.

Dress Code: Dress conservatively. NO shoulders showing. Make sure dresses/skirts below the knee. NO hats, sunglasses, or purses (allowed to bring in keys and money).

Visitation Room: Visitation is held in a large gymnasium. You in chairs that are set up in clusters of four and are allowed to sit by the inmate and hold hands and show light affection (some hugging and some kissing). The amount of affection you are allowed to have with the inmate largely depends on which guards are working that day.

There are several vending machines, that were pretty pricey. We stuck to bags of popcorn (served by inmates) for 50cents and cokes for 60 cents. Sandwiches and frozen goods you cook in a microwave are available for $2.50 - $4.00. There are also chips, cookies, and candy in the vending machines. You are also able to take a picture together for $2.50. There is a small table selling hobby craft items. (key chains, jewelry, belts, etc.).

The restrooms have NO STALLS and the soap is usually sitting at the bottom of the dirty sink. Sorry. There is one mirror, 2 or 3 sinks, and 2 toilets in the women's restroom. I advise using the OUTSIDE restroom and limiting your fluid intake because I did NOT WANT TO USE THAT NASTY BATHROOM INSIDE! I may just skip visitation the week of my cycle. This upset me to no end!

When you leave, you give your slip of paper to the people at the check-in window and they give you back your drivers license. The guard who checked your car checks your trunk again on the way out. The parking lot is full of puddles (gravel and dirt) when it rains.

Welcome to PTO elizabeth! You will find lots of great information and support here, so don't be scared. We're here for you. If you are wanting to find out more information about when your boyfriend may get out, you can do an inmate search on the ADC website and it should tell his parole eligibility date.
Here's a link to that: http://www.state.ar.us/doc/inmate_info/

I think you won't find visitation bad at all once you get used to it. Visitation is in a secure area and you're able to spend some much needed time with your loved one.
