Hey Bill, welcome from here too. I was wondering, you said you had been to prisons in LA. I was wondering if you ever been to Pine Prairie Correctional Center. I am in Kansas and that is where my husband is.
Just wondering. Again, welcome to the group.

Daveswife 04-12-2002, 02:19 PM Hi Bill... Thank you so much for not forgetting our loved ones on the inside. I just wish you had a program in Virginia. My husband loves sports and also attends church every week. He would be a great help on the inside and would enjoy helping his fellow inmates to know God.
God bless you all for your support
Fed-X 04-12-2002, 02:53 PM Hello & welcome to PTO Bill.
Good job on the prison ministry but could you tell us a little bit more about yourself. How you got involved, etc..
Look forward to hearing more!
Sabine 04-12-2002, 03:38 PM Hi Bill !
Just looked at your page - this is an intersting mix, bible and sport, but I think it is cool. I know from a lot of my friends on Death Row, that they would love to have any kind of ministry, that would help them to understand the word and find closer to god, but the only thing they hear from the state priests is, that they should not look into a special kind of magazine ...
Yours
Sabine

Big B 04-14-2002, 11:18 PM Guesss I messed up somewhere because my name is Steve Butler they call me Big B because I'm 6'7" and 290lbs.
My dad's name is Bill so no offense taken.
I'm 38 and live in Southlake Texas. I was raised in the Holy Land........................Kentucky.
I spent 6 years in the USAF then got out in 1990 and began working as a flight simulator technician for American Airlines.
In 1993 went to my 1st softball tournament in Las Vegas and was hooked. Softball became my Idol (not God). I became really good at hitting ( since my size )
I was working as a bat rep on the side for a bat company and was at the National Sporting Goods Super Show in Atlanta in January of 98 when another christian sporting goods owner asked me to come and play in a prison with him.
Long story short I went to the Panhandle of Florida in May and was hooked. I new beyond a shadow of a doubt that that was what I was called to do. June 11 of that same year I has a team of Christan men playing softball in the Eastham Unit in Lovelady Texas.
Since then approximately 500 men, women and kids have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior.
We arm wrestle play softball anything to reach the men for Jesus.
In Oct of 2001 we had a womens team play in Gatesville,TX
22 women were saved that day. Many came to me and said I did not know you could have fun and be a christian. They spend so much time doing Bible studies but don't do many fun things.
Just yesterday saturday. We had a team of mainly youth play in San Saba State Boys School.
I also believe we will be in Pine Praire in LA late r this year.
I will check my Schedule.
enough for now I hate to type
Also we are a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization

danielle 04-14-2002, 11:27 PM Wecome & thank you for letting us get to know you.
Keep up the good work!
Hey Steve, as I read your story about sports, I remember Juan was telling me that he wanted to help out in a minimum security prison here by going to play baseball with the guys.
If you do get to Pine Prairie, let me know. If he is still there, I would greatly appreciate it if you could talk to him. I know he would love it. I am going to send him a copy of what you just posted.
Thanks,
Joy
