strongernow 08-15-2004, 01:41 PM Welcome to the Georgia Forum of PTO :D
We're glad you found us.
I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. I have a friend that is serving for Vehicular Homicide right now, but in his case it was not a misdemeanor so he had a much more severe sentence.
It is true that if you are serving county time in Georgia you are credited 2 for 1 days.
Be strong, we're all here for you if you have any questions!
Jennifer_04 08-16-2004, 01:05 AM Welcome to PTO first of all! There's plenty of great people here who can help and listen to you.
I'm sorry about your friends passing away like that. I know you probably don't think so, but I think 3 months is a pretty good sentence, considering how these DA's can twist things around to make it out worse than it was.
What I would say to you is to be strong, emotionally. If you believe in God, I would say that this is a good oppertunity for you to get closer to Him. Maybe help you understand why all this had to happen. Read your bible. I do know, from what my man told me, that it's not all bad people in jail. It's not like it is in the movies is what he always tells me. Most people just want to do thier time and get out. So don't stress too much about going to jail.
Easy for me to say right? Well, I wish you the best of luck and as much peace of mind as you can get in a time like this.
God bless
Jennifer
BOBO5 08-16-2004, 08:42 AM Thank you for your comments, I really appreciate the words of wisdom, they are really helping me deal with the stress of the situation. My bible is a good friend and has been for the last year and a half while I have been waiting to hear what the outcome was going to be.
Since I am doing 3 months, under the 2 days for every 1 deal that means 45 days total. Does anyone know if I will even serve that much given the circumstances at the jail right now? i.e. severe over population and the fact that as I hear it the governement has stepped in to bring the prison back to "code"? I know I am pushing my luck trying to get out even faster, but I truly am terrified to go at all.
strongernow 08-16-2004, 09:12 AM There is a lot going on with Fulton Co. jail right now because of the issues that have had in the recent past. Things are supposedly looking better. Just keep to yourself is my fiance's advice and that is the best way to stay away from trouble.

Moodysgirl 08-16-2004, 11:21 AM I was scared as well. I had to travel 1200 miles to self surrender. Once I got in there and got situated, it wasn't so bad. Now, don't get me wrong it's not a wonderful place to be, but if you just keep to yourself you won't have any problems.
Rule #1: Do the time, don't let the time do you!!!!
Rule #2: Stay in scripture. I learned to thank Him and praise Him for any and all situations that arose. You know I was fortunate to keep money on my books. There was some women who didn't have money so I always bought extra stuff so I could share with these women. I cannot even begin to tell you what a wonderful feeling that was. I thanked God for allowing me to be His humble servant. Maybe that was my purpose there. I also talked a lot about my Savior to those women. My upstairs bunkee said, until she met me, she had given up on God. She said I am God's love. She said she could see it all around me. So believe or not, some good did come out of me being in there.
It will all be ok, I promise you this. We are here for you and we will take this journey with you. There is a bible called "The Jail-House Rock" it's a bible for inmates. It's free. It really helped me a lot. I have the info to send off for it if you are interested. If you just want to talk, PM me anytime.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid or dismayed; for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1 Verse 9.
I will keep you in my prayers and I will send many positive thoughts your way.

lilivoryangel 08-17-2004, 08:58 PM I don't know much about Fulton Co. but I am sorry to hear about your situation. My children's biol. father died in an accident and the guy i sserving 15 years and I think it is a ridiculous, unfair amount of time given the circumstances. So God ha slaready worked with you serving such a light sentence, though I know the 3 months seems like forvever it will go fast. Almost everyone gets double-time unless the Sheriff elects not to , which is rare. It will go by fast and God will bring you through it all the way! He is faithful. Try to get addresses of some of us so we can write and encourage you. Put on the full armor of the Lord and go in there and do that time and try to make a difference in the lives og those you meet! God bless you!
lil'moma 08-18-2004, 02:31 AM Well, my boyfriend was just transferred to prison 3 wks ago from Fulton County. I can tell you what I know. They have already shipped out at least 300 people to prison. So that situation is starting to get under control. Not to offend anyone but if wou are "white" expect to take some crap from the guards verbally. Visitation sucks unless you are a trustee. I'm not sure if the units are all the same but I couldn't "see" him during visitation through the sheet metal, but I could talk to him. Other than the bad...they don't really have lock down, you can use the phones pretty much anytime except "lights out" and I hope for your sake they finally fixed the air conditioning!!!! All in All be thankful it's not Clayton County.....they have 18 hour lock down and they can only use the phones certain hours of the day. If you go in with your head up you will get nothing but respect from the other inmates. If you go in like a " female dog" that's the way they are going to treat you. I hope this information has helped you out a little. Just remember to keep your head up always....they can't hold you down forever!!!!! If you have anymore questions I'll be glad to try and answer them for you.
P.S. WELCOME TO PTO!!!!!
BOBO5 08-20-2004, 08:45 PM I have been talking to a chapman which visits Fulton Co. Jail quite a bit, and he gave me a very good overview of what to expect when I go in. To be honest it just confirmed a lot of what I had thought and brought up a few things which I hadent though about such as racism, I am white, but I am about the farthest thing from racist as can been seen, I was engaged to a very attractive ebony princess :-), But things didnt work out. I am now engaged to a Korean and most of my friends are South African, Black, or Arab... I have never seen color just whether I like you as a person. So that being said I was told me being white, will be a very bad thing in this enviroment, which makes me quite mad, in this day and age, its truly a moot issue as I see it.
He also told me I should more or less expect to be treated the worst because I am in for such a short period of time, that I cannot gain any types of privledges and the guards like to pick on the short term occupants. e said I should more or less expect to serve about 1 month to 2 months of the term, assuming I am on my best behavior... which I plan on being. Anyway, thought an update would be good, and if anyone has any suggestions or any information that also could be useful I would really appreciate it. Thanks you.
lil'moma 08-20-2004, 10:24 PM Well I pray that you time goes by fast. I wish you the best and I hope you will let us know how you are when you get home again. Like I said in my other post...if you have any other questions just ask and I'll do my best to answer them.
JAM29 08-23-2004, 06:26 AM also you will go through different types of searches, eat at certain times. you will probarly be sleeping with someone in your cell. in your cell you will have a stainlees steel toilet, sink, stool, desk, and your bed will have a thin mattress, pillow, blanket.
