Hi Jenn

Here's a list of what I'm allowed to send my man at Donovan Reception and from post's I've read it appears to be similar system wide.

Blank letter size paper (or lined yellow/white paper removed from binder)
Self adhesive stamp book Max 20 (it's better to just buy pre-stamped envelopes at the post office the lick and stick kind)
Pictures 4x6 max 20
Clear Bic Pens unopened (a 3 pack is best)

Mail it in a manila envelope and inventory the contents on the outside.

If he's mainlined you can send books and magazines provided they come from the publisher or say amazon or borders.

You can always call the mail room at his facility and they will tell you what you can mail him.
