My hubby and I have been married for 11 years and we were just talking about how years ago when we met home computers weren't real popular so we used to hand write all of our letters to one another; but now we type all of them.

I can not even remember when was the last time I actually hand wrote a letter to Nuro. I have a bad handwiritng anyway so I prefer to type; but he on the other hand has beautiful penmanship but he prefers to ype too because it's faster. He actually even surprised me and wrote me a letter earlier this week.

Just curious...

I write my letters, I think it has a more personal touch. :) Joey has a beautiful handwriting, and I have a horrible left handed one, but he's used to it now. :D

It depends on my mood and where I am. If I am writing a letter while I am at work then I generally type it or if I have a lot to tell him then I type it (i try to spare my hand some pain!). If I am at home and just want to drop him a two page "I miss you letter" then I will write it and give it a splash of my favorite perfume!

I write all of my letters. I think it is more personal that way. Even though after 4 pages front and back, my hand is killing me. LOL!!!

Most of the time I write...however, there have been many occasions where I type them. He tells me that I'm cheating when I type, because HE has to write. LOL

I type mine. When I hand write them, I start off neet and tidy then after the first page, I don't know what happens, I start getting sloppy. So, it's typing them that I prefer. Plus, I can say a lot more with more space to type, rather than my large handwritting.

I type most of mine because I do it at work, he says I am cheating also. But it is so hard to find time when you get home to get the kids to bed and sit and write a letter, I am always so tired by then. I feel bad but hey he gets letters right? LOL:p

Most of the time I hand-write my letters. On the occasion that I type it's because of space needed to get all the information on paper with out extra postage. My printer is now out of ink..ugh!...so I hand-write all of them now...I don't mind a little hand pain every day...I know I have to get one out each day just to tell him I love him.:D

Do to our situation I prefer to type so the computer keeps track of dates and such.
He says the vibes are stronger in the handwritten letters so I try to do both. The wierd thing is Raven's handwriting and mine are so similar people can't tell them apart.

I used to type all of my letters when we were pen-pals but after we became involved I started writing them because I thought it was more personal that way. I love his letters - all hand written. I don't think that I would like them half as much if they were typed.

I mostly type my letters. I do write the special ones for his birthday and stuff like that. It is hard for me to keep up with what I am thinking and what I am writing when I "write" the letters. Sometimes I have so much to say I would never get them written! Once I sent him 12 pages of typing, so just imagine what that would have been in hand writing. And I insert pictures that I take on my digital camera in my letters too. He loves that. Kind of like being here and being able to see what exactly I am talking about. Love that man.

I do both, as well, though HE has awesome handwriting, and mine is definitely NOT. When I type them, I add pictures & things (love that digital camera), and can have fun with font & color to suit my mood. On the really "personal" letters, I always write them, usually sprawled out somewhere comfortable ;) .

I always write his letters by hand. I like them to have that personal touch. I find that if I have a whole bunch of things to say and there are too many ideas flowing at once I'll type it out and then organize the ideas and write them into the letter.

I always write my letters to my hubby , even though sometimes he can hardly read them but ya know the people at the prison proboly can't read them either so oh well my baby loves getting letters that have my handwriting in them rather than typing them!

Thanks ladies for everyone's response. Even though I generally type everything except for the stuff I write in cards, I think that I will attempt to hand write at least one letter a week to my husband--for that extra personal touch.

My printer is out of in too. :blah: I get writer's cramp bigtime, and sometimes I save it to disk and run down to the print shop to print it off. Sometimes I get schmart and go to the library and print it from somewhere I've saved it to -- it's cheaper than the print shop.

It's really hard to get daughter to write to daddy. She wants to write, but she's afraid that what she has to say will hurt his feelings or get him mad at her. Sometimes she dictates and I write.

I actually hand wrote a letter to my hubby today. It was only 2 pages because my hands started to hurt; but I am going to try to do a bit better with writing more to add that personal touch.

Well I type the majority of my letters. I use different fonts and sizes. Also I change the color of the font from time to time. So to me this adds that personal touch.
I also sometimes write on the pages that I have typed. And they always get a spritz of my favorite perfume. The folks in the mail room told him they know his mail. He enjoys the combination of typing and hand writing. Besides I type faster than I can write so I get more said in less time. And I like the fact that if I make a mistake I can delete it or even insert and or move sentences and paragraphs. I cannot do this when I do a hand written letter. And I also use all different types of paper. Some with borders, some are bright and bold colors, some have a floral print -- just an assortment of papers.
Rarely do I ever print his letters on white paper -- to me that is so boring. See this way he never knows what kind of paper the letter will be written on or the color. I really love the element of surprising him.

I do both. He prefers my hand writing, he says it's more romantic but he knows it's easier/faster if I type them. I love his handwriting. His flow is poetic. So I hand write at least once a week :D

I do both. I have a digital camera attached to my computer, so take pictures as I am typing my letters and put them in it. I also can add other pictures I find like pretty sunsets and flowers to jazz the letter up a bit. ON the weekends when I have more time, I hand write my letters to my husband...but he likes both...more so the letters with the pictures in them though.

You know it is funny that you mentioned this, I had talked to my man about this and he writes all his letters and I do both write and type them. I usually write him from work so I type them, but when I am home I write them. I like to do them on the PC bc it is always spelled correct and looks nicer. But then again I feel he can feel exactly what I am feeling when I write it and I can add anything then. So when I am lazy I type and when I am not I write.

I do both. Although I feel writing is more personal. If I'm writing him while I'm at work, I type my letters and if I'm at home, I'll write it. But after one page, boy does my hand start to ache.

I type so much faster than I write! I have been an avid pc user for years now. I can type 65 wpm. I now realize that I dont put time into my handwritting anymore and dont write very pretty. However, I switch it up. I type some, I write some. If I type, I will use a really nice font....keep it feminine.... :)

Cowboy doesn't mind that I type his letters as he gets much, much longer ones if I do. Cruising the keyboard at 80 wpm is considerably easier with arthritis and CTS leaving my hands numb and painful alot of the time. I provide far more detail and he says he can see and hear people I'm telling him about because I write and punctuate like a book.

also just started writing our 18 year old son. who left for Army basic training last month leaving me wallowing in my empty nest sadness. I started another journal, the ONLY thing I hand write.

"Send me phone cards, send me a Snickers, send me a weekly planner....how come I haven't gotten more letters...?" It's the junior version of Dad with far fewer letters from him -- he saves those for his girlfriend and has her call me to update. Dad is good about writing but funny thing, I can barely tell their writing apart (both of them send letters that look like they were written blindfolded).

Throw in a pen pal also, I TYPE, TYPE, AND TYPE! I am an artist and have great handwriting and prefer its personal touch, but something had to give. Luckily, no one is complaining.

I write mine by hand, only because my printer is on the fritz so typing isn't an option! lol Seriously though, I love to just analyse his writing, so I write mine so he can analyse my handwriting as well.
I like to write in tons of different colours and I also doodle all over the pages so that it's a complete chaotic mess when it's done.
I might as well keep it interesting, eh?:o

I hand write all mine, anything from 4 to 16 pages a day as I reckon its more personal. I only use the comp to make the pages pretty first and print out. I did one yesterday with a picture of me faded out as a background filling the page. I will be looking n smiling straight at him as he reads the first page of the letter. I used to draw all my pictures.....all sorts of silly things lol My kids told me 'hey mom havent u already passed the 1st grade?'

LoL the last letter I wrote to Ben I typed it because I get really bad cramps in my hands when I write because I push down so hard, and besides that I write really long letters... so anyways I told him;

"I'm gonna type this letter out because I dont want my hand to cramp up on me again!"

And he wrote me back and said;

"Well I am going to have to bare the hand cramps cuz my computer aint workin'" l

ol... hes a smart a$$ sometimes. But I love him. I usually write my letters though, I think it is more meaningful.

I write all of my letters by hand. Honestly, I never really thought about typing his letters... I can't type very fast anyways...plus I think hand written letters are more personal. He always write his letters to me by hand too...he has perfect hand writting! Plus, he always has a lot of cute, different faces through out his letters that show how he is feeling about what ever it is he is writting about. I fell in love with his beautiful, hand written letters first...     So I wouldn't want them any other way...:D

I hand write all of my letters to him, i think that it's more personal. Even if i wanted to type i can't :( the kids killed my ink cartridge on my printer, i'm too broke to get another lol.
He hand writes all of his letters to me also, adds smily faces and hearts just to make me smile. He has only ever typed me one letter in the 4 years that we've been together and that was because he wanted to get it sent out to me before the mail closed for that day :) God i love him :D

I write all of my letters....and I go through an awful lot of paper because the process for most of my letters is this: I keep a notebook near me all the time to jot down random thoughts, then I read back over the notebook and pick out a few to write to him about, and write the letter, all in a rush with crossouts and errors(if I think too much, I tend to censor myself and not really tell him what on my mind and in my heart), then I copy the letter on nicer paper, corrected for spelling, legibly....The only time I use the printer is for pictures and adding captions.

I do both. I love to write by hand because I am more spontaneous but I have too many pals and like to keep a record of what I've said. They do love the clip art and inserted photos when I type. I write a lot of Native Americans and can always find great art for the artists I write. Even when I type, I always handwrite an ending to personalize it.

I do both... I prefer to type them on the computer so I can refer back to them as he answers my letters and it is easier to sneak typing them at work lol , but on the weekends I tend to handwrite them when I don't feel so lazy.

My penpal prefers handwritten letters... says they are more personal, my man says either is OK the way he looks at it either way they come from the heart.

I've never typed a letter but I wish I could!

I've always handwritten all my letter to Joe but lately I've been so tempted to type simply for the fact it's so much faster. Unfortunately, I know he would be disappointed if I did type a letter because he doesn't think it's personal enough.

Hi , i think it depends on where I am , the mood I am in, and the content of the letter. If I am at the office, I type them. The ones that I used to write at night before I went to bed, i always hand wrote as that is more personal and Scott had asked me to hand write some. The ones where we are fighting like cats and dogs, I obviously typed. I always save those to my c drive also. lol lol

I write all of my letters, but I just enjoy writing and I think it makes them more personal to write them out. I also write while I am sitting at the Dr's office or anywhere else I have to wait in line.

Now, with the length of some of mine, I probably would be better off typing them as I could save on postage, but for me there is nothing like the handwritten ones.

He has a typewriter, but he likes to write his as well. It seems others there do not like to hear the peck, peck of the typewriter.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I ALWAYS type my letters!! I type about 80 words per minute!! I know that's insane, huh? But, yea, when I hand write stuff my fingers start to kill in about 5 minutes, so I'll stick to my typing! He enjoys all the pretty fonts and cute graphics I attach to my typed letters! :)

I write most of my letters, but if I know it's gonna be a long one I will type it. He likes them typed better because he says they are longer letters... claims I skimp out when I hand write them. "As if!" :p Sometimes when I hand write a letter, I start getting writers cramp... but sometimes after staring at a computer screen all day I am just unmotivated to sit on my PC and type away... I guess I'm with the previous posters who said depends on their mood. Wow, that was a long way of answering that question...

For the first 4 years, I did only handwritten letters. I felt like many have said that it wa more personal. I realized I could get more in when I types because as it flows I put it down. I type them. Now he likes an occational hand-written one as well-- but he agrees when I type they're longer and more informational and often more like I'm just sitting with him and talking-- I type about 80wpm and my writing as it goes along gets really unreadable.

I used to write tham all but my writing is tiny and horrible. Plus I have a better flow when I type because my typing is much faster. So I started typing them. At first he didn't say n-e-thing but then he told me to hand write them. His reasons could be many. From control to me cheating because he has to write. I handwrite each and every letter because I had bought colored paper and gel pens to use when I write to Mike. I feel by actually writing them it's more personal because I change the pen colors and add little things to the letter. My little way of putting extra love into each and every letter that I send to him...Which reminds me.....I need to write to him now....hmmmm....Might need to find an idea for something new in one of the other threads.....Well take care everyone!! :)

I type most of all my letters because it is so much easier to read then if I actually wrote them. Plus i like to buy all that pretty computer paper and use different fonts and different color writting. He likes that it keeps him guessing and its never the same two letters in a row. I also save them on a disc and I make his own personalized address labels on Printshop and I once made stamps on stamps.com with the first picture that we ever took together on it. That was expensive but he loved it and all the CO's that passed out mail to him commented on how did your wife do that?

I type my letters too. I can write more and print out on both sides of the paper. I use different fonts and also insert pictures of our 'kids' (the pets) and of me and other stuff about town. I went to an art show recently and bought notecards. I use those to hand write special letters as a surprise. I try to keep him guessing.

I mostly type my letters because I type fast and can better keep up with my thoughts that way. I can also cut and paste pictures into the letter and funnies. For a surprise, I write a handwritten letter or send a card.

My first letters were handwritten, but now I write them on my PC. For me as a foreigner it's easier to make spellingcorrections.

The first letters I wrote by hand, but as a foreigner it's easier to make spellingcorrections when typed on my computer.

depends how I feel. If I have a lot to say, I will type it because I can get my thoughts out faster while the are flowing. 75% of my letters were written though.

I type them on the computer, because I tend to write alot and that way I can spell- and grammar-check. My guy says he loves re-reading my old letters, too. When he comes home I'm going to put all our letters in a binder as a momento of how we found each other.

I do both! It depends on what I am sending him and how much room I need b/c they have a limit of 5 pages max so if I need more room then I type them if not I write it.

I've always written by hand, but reading these posts, I may try typing, and see what his reaction is. The only downside to typing is not having a laptop........most letters are written in bed! LOL

I write my letters to him. Even though my handwriting is horrible I think it's more personal. I keep a notebook in my bag I take to work so whenever I get a chance I can add to his letters. :)

I do both. I write 90% of the time though. I use different type of ink pens and paper(rainbow paper, blue paper with clouds on it, or I found some tan paper that has a cross @ the bottom). He likes my handwritten letters best..seems more personal.
