If it was one of the Celled Reception Center Yards, they get yard for a few hours a few times a week. They also come out of their cells to eat breakfast and dinner. Two of the Reception Center Yards are Dorms so it could happen at any time. They also have a mainline level 3 yard at Wasco.

What usually happens in a case like this? How do you find out if your loved one is OK how do they handle these situations? Can a person find out if there loved one was involved? Do they get in trouble?/ What and how is this handled? Just Curious and of course worried! Not that I think he would be involved but I do know sometimes there is no choivce!

Also his counselor was suppose to see him today and said that he couldn't get into the Building Why lockdown means even the staff cant continue processing them? Would his counselor have to tell me the truth if he was in volved if I asked? Or can the counselor lie?

What yard is he on? That will help me answer your questions. Very rarely do entire prisons get locked down. It is usually just the yard that had the problem.

Depending on the reason for the lockdown it may affect everyone, including Counselors doing their jobs.

The Counselor will tell you what he can. If it is something that he can't tell you for security reasons, he will tell you that. Can the counselor lie? Well they human beings just like the rest of us, I suppose it is possible but I don't know why they would.

Does anybody know what happened at Wasco? Is it still in lockdown? My son just got sent there on Friday and we can't get any information. Does anyone know how to reach a person to answer questions? Is it possible to telephone his couselor or doctor/nurse to find if he is getting his medication? Many thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum.

All I know is the Reception or part of Reception is on lockdown due to some Racial fight with about 20 inmates. Yes call Inmate Records give them his CDC# and find out his counselor ext and ask him all your questions

The Reception part of Wasco has 4 yards. B and D Yards are cells. C and H Yards are Dorms.

I am not sure what happened or on what yard, just giving what little info I know about Wasco.

Thanks for the reply. I have been trying to get in touch with someone there to find out who my son's counselor is but no one will pick up the phone on the main line for Wasco. Nor will they return calls. Does anybody know of a number that will get through and are there any other ways to get in touch with either his counselor or doctor?

Hi mistify
In answer to your question, we were there Sat. to see my son. He is in B unit and we had our hr. visit with him by phone. He didn't mention any lockdown. maybe they aren't told. but my Husband neede some answers and a guard told him to go to the trailers by the entrance. Thre they told him to call the prison and they would get him through the office he wanted. He asked if they had a number and they gave him this one 1-800-872-7245 Sure hope it helps you. Good luck and God Bless. Jen

I got to speak to my husbands doctor he was very nice he even called me back. I dont know how the rest of wasco is. My husband is in yard c and he hasnt been able to call and he has been there like 3 weeks or so now. I heard it takes like 30 to 60 days before they can call home. I have gotten letters from him though. I am going to try and call and see if he has been assigned a counsler yet. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to be assigned? And does anyone know what yard that fight was on?

I, too, am looking for answers regarding length of time in reception. My husband has been in there for close to 2 months now and he still hasn't met his counselor, though he has been assigned one. He wants me to call the counselor and ask him to go see him, since his requests get ignored. Are the counselor's overworked? Not working? Or need pushing to get our loved ones through? If I don't call and beg someone to do their job will my husband be shuffled to end? And visiting???? I'm still waiting on being approved. I sent the visiting form in the day after my husband went up to Wasco. He has asked if I have been approved and they say not yet. Does anyone know any other visiting rules or procedures or ways to get around procedures, that I should know about? I really would like to see him? Jimmy doesn't really say too much about what's going on/going down inside. He just says that reception is crazy and you never know what might happen. But the sooner he gets out of there the better.

This is what i know about wasco recp. my bf just got sent there like 2 weeks ago. i called and spoke to a counsler. i was told that an inmate can be there anywhere from 1 day to how ever long. altho it is usually 30-45 days. so by the time your visiting app goes through he will prob bein moved to main stream. i am totally new to all this. but im just letting you know what i do. and i was also told that an inmate will not be moved to main stream till they recieve the inmates file. now sometimes the file comes with the inmate and sometimes it takes forever for it to get there. my bf got and seen a counsler the same day he go there. as far as getting around the rules there is no way. it take 30-45 days for you to be either apporved or denyed. they only way to find out is for your husband to as and him tell you. i think the thing i hate most about the recp is that they cant make calls. that is what i know as of right now. if i find out any other information i will be sure to pass it on. i hope i was of some help.

My boyfriend was in Wasco Reception from around the beginning of April until the end of August. Yes it does take forever for them to meet their counsler. He met his counsler about 2 weeks before he was transferred to California Institute for men in Chino.

When he was in Wasco I would go visit him every Sat and Sun. (behind glass of course) He was so ready to get out of there. Now he wishes he was still there and not in Chino.

As far as getting approved to visit. Make sure you send the completed visitation form to him and not to the address it has on the form.

I usually went to visit after 11:am. It seemed like the earlier I would get there the longer the wait was.

The mail is very slow to get to them. Usually 8 - 15 days. Also they can only have embossed envelopes (no stamps). You get them at the post office. 20 or 25 max is what is allowed at one time.

They don't have any phones in reception for inmates to use. He won't be able to call until after he gets transferred.

But the sooner he gets out of there the better. There are MANY reasons why your husband has not seen a counselor. If he's a violator his parole region may still have his C-File. If they do not send it to his institution the counselor cannot process him. Also, he may be waiting for the Board of Prison Terms to hear his case. At the institution I work at they're are forty counselors and 6,500 inmates. Do the math. The list goes on. Often, inmates tell 'lil white lies to their families. Why? To put pressure on staff to do his bidding, or he's just a jerk. Who knows, but it happens all the time.

I was at wasco prison this weekend. There was only one teer that was in lockdown. the rest of it was fine. i finally got to see my honey. it was so nice but when it came time to leave and come home sunday it was sssoo not nice.
made me miss him more. I talked to my honeys counseler today and she said it usually takes 6-8 weeks for the counseler to get the file. The counseler cant see the inmate till she/he gets that persons file. Once they get the fiel the will do a work up on them. determin how many points they have and so on. 0-18 points is level 1, 19-27 points is a level 2, and so on. then from there the level can determin where they go. a person can be sent to fire camp with up to 27 points. as far as making calls they can not. unless wasco is gonna be where they server their time at. even when they get moved to building A. the visits in building A are still one hour behind glass. they wont be able to use the phone till hey get to where they will be doing the rest of their time. then they can call home and things. also while in reception they can not get packages. we have to wait till they get to a main line. and main line is gonna be where they do their time. it dont mean the main line at wasco. that is what i thought till i talked to counseler johnson today. she kinda popped my bubble. lol hope this info has helped someone. when i find out more info i will pass it on.
