View Full Version : Wasco Lockdown?
mom2boys 08-11-2004, 02:48 AM Hi Everyone,
This is my first post on the boards. My brother is in prison...it's his second time. He's in reception at Wasco.
Apparently there was some sort of fight between 20 inmates...race/gang related of course.
So, anyway, if you're going to visit make sure you call first to make sure your loved one isn't on lockdown. We drove 2 hours for a visit (we have to make appointments), only to be turned away because they were on lockdown.
Anyone else here have a loved one in Wasco?

mom2boys 08-11-2004, 10:32 AM I don't know when exactly the fight was, but it was between 2 weekends ago and last weekend.
Not all prisoners are on lockdown. I think just those that 'claim' Norteno, and another group, maybe the 'black' gang? I don't know. You know how it is. Prison politics is awful.
When my brother first went to prison, (he's Hispanic), the guards there told him he had to 'claim' something so they knew where to put him. Since he's from Northern/Central California, they claimed Norteno for him. So, now...he's considered a gang member. He's playing the game. He has to...to keep safe.
When we went to see him 2 weekends ago, he seemed really nervous, kinda down, and just not well at all. We asked him what was wrong...he just said "Oh, these prison politics are taking it's toll on me. I can't/won't talk about it though" and that was it. Then, next thing you know he's on lockdown. I'm sure it was no coincidence. I'm sure he knew what was going on. It must be so stressful in there!
When we asked one of the guards why they just didn't punish those who actually were in the fight, the guard said there was no way to find out who did it because everyone in there is bald.
Sad. :( Every time we go in to visit my brother all I see are young boys between the ages of 18 and 29. Very sad.
Anyway, I hope if your loved one is in Wasco you're able to see him. We're going to call on Friday (after 1:00 p.m.) to see if they're still on lockdown.

YankeeGirl 09-07-2004, 03:53 PM Hi I am new to the forum and so glad to have found this site. Everyone seems so willing to help one another and support each other. I am having a very hard time right now. My husband is in Wasco recieving and he cant call for 60 days someone told me. I am hoping that is a mistake. My husband is white and Filipino and he has a very dark complexion.
Someone told him to claim other because he isnt in any gang and has a 18 month bid that if he claims other then he will not have to deal with all the politics in side. Tis is really hard times for me as I am sure you all know. I would love to talk to anyone that knows anything about wasco or how the prisons work in cali.
My stepson said his dad will most likely get a l;evel 1 or at worse a 2. I know that is no where as bad as the higher levels. My stepson just got back from high Dessert and is back in the county now looking at 13 years.
I am going crazy here. Anyone feel like chatting please message me.
Thanks and hope you all are keeping it stronger then I am.

Hi there.. I was in luck because when my husband was in Wasco for R/C, they never went on lockdown.. I would have gone crazy myself.. But my husband was only in Wasco for bout 2 months and then he got transfered to another prison for mainlined.. Has your husband seen his counselor?? After seeing their counselor, they get mainlined within a week, that's what happened to my husband.. I hope that you see your husband soon, and just hang in there.. Take care
jojosmamita 05-23-2007, 05:45 AM MAN!!!! my fiance is in county right now.. and from what he told me..most of the guys in orange county go to wasco for reception and im not liking the fact that one of the yards is on lockdown.. i mean i wont be able to see him until i get reapproved..but still i could get approved quick (with my luck it will probably take forever).. but still lockdown sucks.. we both go crazy when we dont see or hear eachother voices and im dreading reception.. :(
jdpSgrl 05-23-2007, 01:04 PM My boyfriend is also at Wasco in reception. He has been there for 24 days now. I haven't heard from him in 3 days. Usually I get a letter a day from him. If they are on lockdown are they still able to send and receive mail?

Hi there.. I think that it depends on which prison your husband will be going to, to see if he'll get moved fast or not.. My husband stayed a week and then he got transfered to Folsom Prison.. It would of been nice if he stayed in Wasco when he got mainlined because that was only an 1 hour and 45 min away only, but now it's 3 1/2 hour depeding on traffic.. So hopefully you'll get contact visit soon.. :D

Hi there! Hopefully your husband will get sent to the prisons that he says, because when my husband was in Wasco, the counselor told him, either corcoran or pleasant Valley, but NOPE, they shipped him 3 1/2 hours away! :blah: I didn't know until I called Wasco to check if my husband was still there.. I was heartbroken, but what can I say.. I used to visit him every weekend, but now I only visit him once a month, I wished that I could visit him every weekend, but he'll be coming home soon.. :D Besides we're having our family visit in July, so that should be WONDERFUL, it's my third one, and our last because my husband will be out in 2 months by then.. :D I pray that you'll get to see your husband soon, and best of luck girl! :)

I am wondering the same thing. I have not heard from my boyfriend in over a week. I keep sending him letters but get nothing back... Whats going on down there? Can they not send out mail? I am getting a little worried!?
