Hi y'all,
I'm new to the whole situation. My ex, Big Daddy, is serving 120 days at Boot Camp in Wrightsville for meth. We have been divorced forever, are not each other's current spouses, but he needs a friend and my husband has given me his blessing to write him.
Does anyone know if they are allowed birthday cards at that facility? He got into trouble for me putting butterfly stickers on the letters I sent him and I don't want to get him in more trouble and set him back any, since he will be out soon.
Thanks in advance.

I have not delt with the bootcamp. I would suggest calling them and asking before you send the card. you can find a lot of info at the Arkansas Department of Corrections website. www.arkansas.gov/doc/index.html (http://www.arkansas.gov/doc/index.html)
I hope this helps.
Send him a Happy Birthday from us too!!

Thanks, Matthew's_Angel. I called the Boot Camp and was told he could have cards as long as they aren't the musical type, and of course, no stickers on them. My current hubby, my kids, and I all sent cards to him, which really made his day. I know he was miserable being away from his wife, stepkids, and his 12-year-old daughter, and surprisingly, he even missed the ex-wife he hasn't seen in all these years.
One good thing that has come out of his arrest has been that we have been able to bury the hatchet and move on from a lot of pain that we have been carrying around for 14 years. I told him about finding these boards and all the great people here and he is thrilled that other people wished him a happy birthday.:)

That is great! It is good to hear that everyone is getting along and he has a good support system. Maybe this is the wake up call he needed (?) to improve his and his loved one's lives.
I wish ya'll the very best and many happy days.

I've seen posts regarding boot camps, some talk about 120 day and others talk about less days. I was under the impression that they were all 6 month camps? I was wondering if anyone knew what the boot camp time actuallly is? Does it depend on your carges? Federal or State? Time recieved? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michelle

Michelle, I was confused about that myself and I still am. He was sentenced to three 10-year sentences and was being moved from one jail to the other. His time in Diagnostics was supposed to be 30 days, but I think that was only a couple of weeks. If he doesn't make it through his 120 days (which will be up Oct. 25) then he has to serve 20 months at Cummins. I don't understand how the whole process works.

butterflyangel,
I too have someone in Boot Camp at Wrightsville. I have mailed letters to him with stickers on the outside and never heard that he could not get any such thing. It is amazing the things that they can be disciplined for which is totally out of their control, like my stickers!
My guy's release date is in Sept if he makes dark blue. Does anyone understand the terms of release from Boot Camp? Do they have to go to a halfway house or can they be released to their own apartment? Thanks, Chawhee

Hi Chawhee,
As far as I know, they can go home after release from Boot Camp. Big Daddy is planning on coming here to visit us ASAP so I assume they're on their own and that they don't have to go to a halfway house.
The sticker thing stinks. They finally sent me a note and returned one letter AFTER he had been made to go and cut off all the butterfly stickers from the previous letters.
