http://www.freecycle.org and I hope I posted the link right, too. This is an email list that is nationwide and has local chapters all over the place. Folks can list items they want to give away, and other people can post "wanted" ads for items they are looking for. I got a nice sleeper sofa and loveseat for free, and was able to give away several household items I didn't need anymore. It's a great organization!!!!

well shoot, I probably didn't post it right. Well anyway, it's www.freecycle.org, OR you can go to www.***********.com and put Freecycle in the search for groups thing and something should pop up....I joined my local list of Freecycle from ***********.
