John's Mom

Allow me to introduce myself, I'm John's Mom, my real name is Cheryl. My son is awaiting sentencing Sept 15th for vehicular manslaughter and second degree murder, which results in 15 to life in California. Thank you for this website, I just stumbled on it. I'm a bit overwhelmed and experiencing tremendous grief as the sentencing date approaches. I can't stop crying and reciting the "what ifs". I'm hoping the 2nd degree murder charge is overturned at some point. The DA really had to stretch to get it tried in court. I have faith in God, but the thought of such a harsh sentence is more than I can bear. It's really tearing me up inside. On the outside I have to appear like I have it all together to keep my job and run a household, but I'm really grieving. My heart goes out to others in the simular situation. I'm drawing from the strength in some of your letters and words of wisdom. Thanks for being there. Cheryl

Welcome Cheryl

I am a mom here and my son was just sentenced last month for vehicular homicide. I understand. As the date came up for sentencing I was very emotional I did not expect that and I thought sentencing was going to ba a good thing to move foward but as the date got closer the worse I got and so did my son. BUT once it was over it really was a huge relief for both of us. His lawyer will tell you what he kinda thinks will happen but won't know till the judge says it. From our experiance it was what the lawyer thought so hang on breath and just get that day over with. You can pm me anytime you would like.

CheryL:

You have come tot he right place.

You are perfectly right to feel the deep sorrow you obviously feel.

Here you will find non-judgmental support to help you and your son get through this. We will not judge what anyone "did" but only care about the fact that human beings are involved.

Please keep us apprised. Your anxiety is understandable, but have faith in the best anyway.

Blind faith can be the most rational thing to have in a situation like yours.

best
