I need you help for a friend guys....here is the problem:

My landlord has a son who was arested..got a bond set and then was transffered to the other county jail where stephen is. Well his father came up with the bail money and they transffered him back to the original county jail because that is where you get released from..so now my landlord went to get him and they said they could not release him til the transportation fee was paid--something like 300.00 (to drive 20 miles!!) my lanlord has already put out like 13,000 and is having trouble geting this amount for the fee--I hae never heard of this so any info would help...It is in Hidalgo county Texas....I feel very bad for this man he has jumped through hoops to post the bond and now this?? I know he will appreciate any info you guys have! thanks!!

All I can say is, WOW! I have never heard of that and it sounds almost illegal in itself. They could have released him from where he was.. Right out the front door. I have never heard of a jail that doesn't have it's own Intake/Out take center. Whether it be for transfers or whatever.. R&D (Receiving and Discharge) handles & tracks people in custody.. If they felt they needed to transport him, that should be on them.. He may be stuck at this moment because they have him between a rock & a hard place but I would kick up all sorts of much over this.. Contact newspapers, Judges etc..
