What is the criteria in alabama for a decision to be made to send someone to the Frank Lee Youth Facility? Is there a certain list of crimes that are NOT supposed to be committed by the inmates there? (other than sex crimes or violent crimes) Is first degree armed robbery (with a gun) considered a violent crime...How is it ascertained whether or not there was injury done to the victim? Is it only physical injury that is considered? Is first degree armed robbery a common crime committed by the inmates there? Lets say the person was 19 when the crime was committed. Lets say he has been sentenced to 20 split 3. Would it be unusual to have someone sentenced to the Frank Lee facility for the entire 3 years of their sentence at that age and for that crime? I just would really like to know what their guidelines are. Anyone familiar with any of this?
I'm not sure about some of the questions you asked, but 1st degree armed robbery is a class A felony and is considered a violent crime whether there was injury or not. The gun makes it a class A, violent crime. Usually if you have a split sentence you will do everyday of that say 3 years. I don't think early parole applies to split sentences.

Thanks...what I'm asking is, how would they have decided to sentence him to the Frank Lee Youth Facility? Because according to the internet, thats where he is. And he was 19 when the crime was committed, in 2002, and that means he's (according to this birthdate Im looking at, he is 22 years old right now. So what Im just quite curious about, since I have just NOW found this out, is WHAT is the criteria for someone going into a youth facility in the state of Alabama...Im really wondering. (Its curiousity more than anything else, it just seems like there are so many inmates in Alabama that have to be serving a lot harder time for a lot lesser crime...and I have always been quite curious about this robbery anyways.

Hi - I just answered this in another thread you posted in but just wanted to add another note that Frank Lee is currently housing minimum security inmates of all ages, crimes and criteria and has been since the inmates were brought back from Mississippi in February and March. I would assume it's due to the overcrowding but I also think Frank Lee has been declassified and is no longer a "youth center facility" - tho that may just be temporary, I dunno...
