babygirl502 08-05-2004, 05:39 PM Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has any information regarding Ironwood State Prison, I just found out today that Matthew got transferred there from Chino, and I would like some information regarding this prison. Thanks A Bunch everyone!! :)
Claudia1128 08-05-2004, 09:29 PM :o :o ohhhh babygirl!!ironwood is sooooo far away its ridiculus!!!! My soul is in Chuckwalla which is a mile before Ironwood coming from Pomona it takes almost 3 hours!!!!Its hot and humid all the time!!!Feel free to pm me if this isnt enough good luck!!!!!!!
babygirl502 08-05-2004, 10:09 PM 3 HOURS FROM POMONA??? HUMM... I'M IN LA PUENTE (HI NEIGHBOR  ) SO IT'LL BE LIKE 3 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES FOR ME, HEHE. THAT DOES SEEM LIKE A JOURNEY, ESPECIALLY SINCE HE WAS IN CHINO, WHICH WAS LIKE 15 MINUTES AWAY FROM ME :( NOW YOU SAY ITS HOT AND HUMID??? IS THERE LOTS OF TRAFFIC GOING OVER THERE??? I GUESS ITS TIME FOR A ROAD TRIP!!! :)
Claudia1128 08-06-2004, 01:53 PM hey Veronica,
There usually is not a lot of traffic but I leave real early around 6:00 am (yea I am still asleep lol) through San bernadino its a little trafficky but not to much actually pretty nice for the 10 frwy.......Lucky girl I wish mine stayed in Chino or Norco anywhere closer. Its some damage on my car to tell you the truth it makes me so sad to its really hard to get the will power up for that road trip (lol) :grouphug: Hi Neighbor!!!!!! How long has your man been down for???? We have 4 years behind us and 4 years to go :( :( :(
babygirl502 08-06-2004, 06:15 PM Claudia,
I got your IM, thanks :) Well wow, now its really starting to sound like a journey hehe, but you say its a nice view with the windmills huh, I dont know about the desert part   Maybe we should plan a road trip, that way ( dont know if you go alone) neither of us goes alone and you could give your car a break from driving all the way to the boonies. I saw a picture of the prison, nothing but desert, out in the middle of nowhere :( Well Matthew just went back in after a parole violation, they gave him a year, he has already done three months in Chino, and now has to do the rest there in Ironwood :( He had been out for almost a year, before that he was up by Bakersfield, and then Chino. Wow Girl, how do you do it, I mean 4 years down and 4 more to go is a long time. :grouphug: Matthew and me, are trying to work some things out, so we are not currently together, but we love each other, and just thinking about the next 9 months, is hard. But I'll PM you later on that. Take care for now. Muah :)
Nielly 08-07-2004, 12:28 AM Hello girls my boyfriend also got transfered to ironwood this past week he was at Corcoran anyways I've only visit Corcoran once and to be honest I had a bad experience if you guys know anything about the visiting I heard you have to be there early because they pass out numbers out the gate this is all new to me so any info you know I will really appreciate it I plan to visit next week August 14&15 are any of you going? well please let me know anything you know about this place thanks. What would be a good time to get there
babygirl502 08-07-2004, 03:48 PM Hi Nielly,
Well actually I had never really visited Matthew in any other prison besides CIM in Chino, so I'm as clueless as could be regarding visiting or on anything else for that matter. :) Claudia is giving me info on Ironwood (THANK YOU CLAUDIA!!! :) ) Where in California are you in? About visiting this coming weekend, I'm not sure, my birthday is on the 15th and it would be a nice birthday gift to see Matthew but not so sure yet. But as soon as I get any info I'll make sure to let you know k. Take care for now, and feel free to PM me if you'd like. :)
KMFDM75 08-08-2004, 12:13 AM I live in Corona, and takes me about two, two and a half hours.....but I leave at like two in the morning so that I get a good spot in line, don't have to deal with traffic, and get to spend a full day visiting. It is hotter then heck out there durning the summer. I hate the heat....heh. We should all carpool or something. We live close enough to each other!! :)
Nancy
donnamp73 08-08-2004, 03:17 AM well like i have said before my man was just transferred from ironwood. i never visited him there due to the approval process taking forever but he told me that when his mom would visit from chino she would leave really early because the lines where so long to get in. he is now in crc and they only have visitation 2 times a month which really sucks and makes it really crowded. but good luck to you. by the way it gets up in the 120's in the summer so make sure you keep cool.
babygirl502 08-08-2004, 04:15 PM I got a letter from Matthew yesterday, and yeah he did mention how hot it gets over there, poor guys!!! Nancy, you're right, we all do live close by, we should all carpool over there to visit, that way we are not alone driving over there, and we have some time to get to know each other on a more personal level :) PM me!
Claudia1128 08-08-2004, 09:05 PM Girls!!!!! It is so hot out there I find my self wanting to cry for my heart!!! But like I said mine is at chuckawalla which is a mile before Ironwood and I usually dint have to m uch drama trying to get in through the lines but I thought I left early lol!! (wow 2 am) Veronica I am so glad to hear your man sent you a letter!!! :hifive: It always makes me feel good to get the mail and fing that Inmate Correspondance!!! Well girls we are pretty Close huh??? lol never thought about carpooling (DUH) :shake: but it is such a lonely drive especially after the darn radio give out lol ....well my prayers and heart all those stong enough to stay by there man in this dark time.......:grouphug:
Oh p.s. incase u dint notice these smilies are so cute!!!!
amandascholz419 08-12-2004, 11:52 PM my fiance is in Ironwood, I live in San Diego. When you go, go early!!!! People start lining up in their cars at midnight sometimes. I leave my house at 2-3 Am and get there between 5-6 Am (it takes me 3 hours) and I am still about number 50+ in line. The processing to get in is such a long and exhausting process. You have to sit in your car and wait untill they start letting cars through then you have to wait so they can search your trunk. All this happens around 7:30 to 8:00 Am. Meanwhile you got cars piling and piling up. Then when they finally start letting cars come thru you have to sit outside in the heat untill they start calling numbers around 8:30-9:00 even then you are not allowed to go in other then to use the bathroom unless they have called your number. They call 20 #'s at a time. 1-20 and so on. They don't call the next batch of twenty untill they go thru the first set of 20 #'s. Then sometimes when you finally get into the visiting room depending on what number in line you are your love one is not even there for the first half an hour or so. One time I went and there were about me and 12 other girls waiting for at least an hour in the visiting room, they hadn't even called them. I usually wait about a half an hour when i get in there to see him. So it is a draining project especially when you are driving so far. It is a whole day event. I am drained completely everytime i go see him for the rest of weekend. But it's all worth it just to see his face.
If you have anymore questions feel free to pm me.
babygirl502 08-13-2004, 12:23 AM Thanks Amanda for sharing this information with us. You really helped us out ALOT!!! :) Wow that sounds like a very exhausting experience, but like you said, its all worth it just to see our guys. How long has your fiance been in Ironwood? Matthew just got transferred there less then two weeks ago, and has to be there for the next 9 months (on a parole violation) Well thanks again for sharing this info with us, (((HUGS))) to you! Take care!!!
amandascholz419 08-14-2004, 09:44 PM Well today I went to see my fiance:p. I miss him already :( . Today it wasn't that bad, but then again A yard was on lock down and the whites on My baby's yard where on lock down so the process wasn't bad at all. Or maybe it was the rain? We got there later then we usually do and in a half an hour got in and then another half in hour we were in the visiting room. I actually got to spend the entire visiting day with him instead of in stupid lines. :D sometimes you just luck out I guess!!
babygirl502 08-14-2004, 11:13 PM Hey Amanda, I'm glad you had a great visit today!!! (((hugs))) to you. :)

KMFDM75 08-19-2004, 12:09 AM Hey girls, I'm not sure yet if I'll be able to go on the 29, but I'll find out in the next day or so, so I'll let you both know!!! :) I've never been out there, so I would really love the company.:)
I would at least say to go with someone that has been before being that it is your first time out there. I am sure that every instatution is different in the way they process and whatnot. Would love to see other PTO'ers!!!!!

Miss Ing U 08-03-2006, 05:40 PM Hello Ladies my husband just got transferred to ironwood and I plan on visiting him August 12. I'm coming from Los Angeles and do anyone have any tips for me I am clueless on what to expect.
This is my first time visiting a prison. I am going with three small children all under the age of 5. Can someone please help me and give me some advice on what should I do and expect. Also I hear they pass out numbers, do they give them to you while you're in your car or once you stand in line. Please Help Me?
Desperately Seeking Advice
Antonio's_Wife 08-04-2006, 04:15 PM Well Good Luck On Your Visit, Here Are Some Tips That Might Help Mak Sure You Have Your Children Birth Record (offical Copy), Make Sure You Have A Clear Bag Were They Can See Through It, You Can Only Have Ones Or Quaters You Can Have $30.00 For Toy And The Inmate To Share And $10.00 Per Child, No Jeans If You Children Are A Little On The Tall Side I Think It's 4' And Up No Jeans . Sometimes They Give Numbers When They Check You Id Somtimes It's While Your Waiting For Them To Start Processing. Hope This Helps.
Miss Ing U 08-04-2006, 07:38 PM Thank You so much for the information I appreciate it and I was wondering did those rules apply for the children.
Antonio's_Wife 08-06-2006, 08:24 PM The Jeans Rule Apply If The Child Is About 4 Feet Or More.
Hi, I hope you have a good visit. Just also make sure that you follow the dress code. Your shoes have to have backs on them. No all white tshirts, they can have writting on them. No gray, (thats a new one, they change the rules all the time), for the kids, no RocaWear...dont wear green, or denim blue. The kids can't wear converse either. My friends son (age 8) had a pair on and they wouldn't let him in.) Make sure you bring all the birth certificates for the kids. Call before you go because sometimes they are on lockdown. And it's a long drive. Good luck, and enjoy your visit. Also, make sure to bring singles and quarters.

When did they change the Converse rule?? Thats crazy one of my girls had on white ones and they didnt say nothing...what color where your sons shoes? where they black? I hate when they think they can just change the rule when ever they want    :blah: :blah: :blah: ...
Miss Ing U 08-11-2006, 12:53 AM Thank You so much ladies, I'm in here trying to get everything together now. I hope everything goes well, I'll hate to go that far and can't see him.
Mocksie 08-11-2006, 09:42 AM you can also go onto there webpage i believe its www.ironwoodstateprison.com (http://www.ironwoodstateprison.com) or .org not sure. however, if you go to google and look up ironwood they can connect you to there home page and they have there rules and regulations there as well. Keep in mind, they do change there rules quite frequently though.
