Tracy had been at parchman for 15 1/2 years. Alan was there for 10 years they were as close as any brothers. Neither had a hug or been touched in all those years. But they formed a bond that was unbreakable. The day before Tracy was murdered the Captain, who knew how close Tracy and Alan were put them in a cell together. Shakled of course, but they were left in that cell alone for 20 mins to say their goodbyes and to be able to hug each other. For both of them it was the most wonderful moment.
For me is showed that even in the face of death there are some good people out there in CO's clothing.

Wow, thank you for sharing that. Some times when all you see is hate and evil and think no one cares... then someone comes along and helps renew your faith that the world is not all bad. What about Alan? How is he doing?

I have stayed in contact with Alan, he is a wonderful man and has been a very good friend to Tracy and I. He is doing as well as can be expected for were he is. He has some wonderful pen friends that write him. Him and I spend most of out time talking about Tracy and it helps both of us. He deals with things from day to day. He knows how much Tracy loved and respected him. He told me that day he was able to say goodbye and hug Tracy was the nicest thing that ever happened to him. I spoke with Tracy after the visit and he was in tears over them allowing it to happen.

I did write a letter to the Captain after Tracy was murdered and Thank him for his kindness, I told him he would never know how much that meant. I thank him for having a heart in the midist of some much ugliness.

That is a wonderful story - thank you for sharing it. :)
Yes, writing the CO would be something I would do, Letting them see each other was a risk he must have taken. It's good that you and Alan have each other to lean on.
