Hi Everyone,
I have a question that is of immediate concern to me.
Recently my son asked me to send money for a fan as there is no air conditioning  in the prison. I could have misunderstood, maybe he meant, none that worked well? Surely they have some air conditioning. Can someone set me straight on this?
Would appreciate knowing right away.
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
This may or may not be considered a medical issue. My son asked for money to buy a fan. He told me there is no air conditioning in the prison. Can this be true? Or perhaps I misunderstood, maybe he meant none that worked well. I hope someone can advise me. Georgia is very hot and can be unhealthy in the summer. Surely they would have air conditioning or some sort of cooling system.
Thanks for any advise you can give.

Ummm...you probably heard right the first time. Many of these prisons do not have A/C. I know for sure at Jackson DX and Wilcox S.P. they do not have any air conditioning for the inmates.

I guess that wasn't the answer I really wanted.Isn't that unhealthy? How about a ventilation system? Anything at all??

It's not unhealthy just very uncomfortable. There are big fans for general air circulation. At Jackson they would pass out cups of ice to the inmates and open all windows.

hi
I guess cups of ice is something. My dog was impounded once, the kennels were air conditioned. I wonder if not giving the prisone's a/c follows under the rehabilatative program?

My daughter has no air conditioning either, just the fan she has purchased, that is it, that is also how she dries her under clothes. I guess it gets her ready when she has to go outside into the hot sun with a sickle until noon everyday, or pull the weeds, or bail the hay, but that is what they call agricultural training, or rehabilatation.

my honey doesn't have air conditioning either. In his place they are not allowed fans nor can they open the window in the day time. There have been some incidents of people dying from heat stroke because at times during the summer it can get to be 120 degrees

My honey has no air conditioning either, in the dorms, cells, living quarters, etc. They do have several large fans that blow the hot air around for ventilation, and inmates can purchase fans of their own. However, the only air conditioning is in visitation room, when it is operating............
