OK, My guys pick date is Feb 05. What I need your help on is planning what to do and when to do it. When should we send letters to the parole board? What is too early? Are there any other suggestions? Is it appropriate to have him ask the officer in charge of his work detail to put a recommendation in writing? What about his previous counselor and/or the chief counselor? As I'm sure you all will understand I just want to do everything I can to make sure he come home in Feb and not any later.

I am going through this right now. We had been told his date for review was Sept. 04 and they up and changed it and made a decison in June so now I had to write the director of clemency and ask them to reopen it. So make sure the date is right. SEND EBERYTHING certified because I have had to resend everything because they said they weren't sure if they got it all and to resend it. They are very rude and talk out of both sides of their mouth. I am not pleased with the way they run things there so just make sure you stay on top of things and save everything for documentation.

I had been told in the past by a woman I spoke to at the SOuthern Center for Human Rights that the best time to write letters and such is 3 months prior to their actual review/pick date. This is due to the fact that 3 months prior to the final decision is actually when the case investigation is going on and they will pay the most attention to the letters then rather than just stick them in the file.

This is good to know! I wish someone had told me this! Instead when I called in May I was told we didn't even need to write any letters and there was nothing I could do to help, it was all up to them! I swear this is what she told me! Of course I did write leters and have others do so too but I did it a month and half before, not three which is why everything is so screwed up now. How do you get these people to be so helpful to you? I am professional and kind on the phone so what am I doing wrong dealing with them? Maybe I sound more bitchy than I intend????ARRGHHH
