View Full Version : Should he go to Coffeewood?
Tuff_Act 08-02-2004, 02:42 PM My husband is at Deep Meadow as I'm sure y'all know. He has been classified as level 3. He said he might like to stay at Powhatan but it is a 3 hour trip for me. I drive it happily, though. I'd drive 3 days to get a kiss from him. But I live in Madison about 45 minutes from Coffeewood and that would be an easy trip for me. Of course I'm not the one who has to live there so more than anythung I want him to be in the best possible place.
Let me also say I love you guys. I felt really connected to the wives and girlfriends I met Sunday while waiting for my visit and I remembered to smile because any of them could be women I feel like I know from PTO. I thank god for any form of support available. Sometimes it just hurts too much. :(

Isn't Coffewood a level 2 facility? That's where my Hubbie woyld like to go when he gets his level taken down to a 2. :)
jodyandkato 08-04-2004, 04:14 PM My honey who is waiting for his sentence served time at Coffeewood and thought it was the best place he had ever been. I never visited him there so I can't give you first hand information.

froggysangel 08-19-2004, 10:56 AM I used to take my God daughter to visit her dad at Coffeewood. It was not bad as far as visiting went. They had the visiting room and when that filled up they opened another room next door which I think might have been a gym. We usually did get our visits stopped at 3 hours but I don't remember if that was because of crowding or if that is the time limit for the visits. This was about 4 or 5 years ago so things could have changed. As we all know things have a tendency of changing from day to day.
LeeLee 08-20-2004, 03:17 PM Coffeewood is a level 2.........
Tereasa88 11-07-2004, 07:53 PM My hubby just got shipped to Coffeewood anyone know about this place as far as how they are in the visiting room and such now? My husband is also in Coffeewood. Visiting days are Saturdays and Sundays and most
"holidays". I think it's 8-3pm but you have to be there before 230p to get a visit. You get aleast an hour depending how full it is. I've never gotten least than 2hrs, most times 3hrs. The guards seem cool. We've never had a problem. You can bring change, keys etc. in a clear bag. You can get a few extra kisses etc. as long as you don't go overboard. The thing I don't like is it is dormitory style. There are about 96 bunk beds in one room with NO privacy and no where to escape. My husband has a small t.v. so I think being on his bed watching t.v. is his only small escape.
Tereasa88 11-11-2004, 08:21 PM Thanks for the response. Do they open up the gym when the visiting room gets full? Dillwyn didn't do this and I think they are suppose to. Also just wondering if they have anything in the visiting room for kids? Dillwyn had a few books but other places he has been like Keen Mountin had tons for kids to do.
thechefswife 11-12-2004, 09:25 AM Yes the gym is always open and in the summer you can sit outside. Unfortunately, there is really nothing for children to play with. Last time I was there they did have a cart with books. They kinda strict about kids not running around.
Tereasa88 11-14-2004, 06:17 PM Thats cool our daughter is 9 so she dont run around anymore hehe but she gets so damn bored so a few books would be a good thing!! Thanks again!
timmyslove 10-02-2006, 12:21 PM what are the guards like at coffewood are they flirty aor nice or how are things, pm with info anyone thank you
disneydianne 05-17-2007, 07:09 AM I have heard that Coffewood is getting changed to a level 3. Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks and God Bless!

boandmelissa 05-17-2007, 11:23 AM I haven't heard that, but I will look into it.
I do know that they have both a new warden and a new assistant warden.
mrs.battsiii 05-22-2007, 02:59 AM my 2 cents about CWCC that i didn't see mentioned. battman has done 8years there. level 3, then 2, now recommended for 1. but over the years, i can say that the guards are pretty cool. it's the standard stuff. respect gets respect. just be nice. there is a cool guard, been there forever... likes mascara! she's cool. visits are pretty standard. go before count. you can get 'caught' in it and get a little more time. this just in about pictures... only holding hands or arm around the shoulder. 2 guys got busted taking lewd pictures, i mean magazine photos... guards were sheilded by the trustees, and they all got busted because one person in the pic doing an act got carried away and loud. hm. tmi. but this is what is going around.
i saw that tereasa is from out of state. have him ask his counselor for a special visiting day and extended on your regular day since you drive in from out of state. they are really cool about it. i come from az and we got darn near the whole day. yeah! 6 hours one day and 5 the next. that was rough in those plastic chairs, but i loved every minute of it!
i have followed battman to greensville (horrible in the early 90s- dunno about now) and deep meadows (not so bad in the early 90s). but my favorite is cwcc. they seem fair. dunno how the admin change will affect it though.
wanderingx 06-22-2007, 12:49 PM I just found out my friend moved from Deep Meadow to Coffeewood last week. I thought he was classified as Level 1. So I am confused about the Level of Coffeewood. Is it 1, 2, 3? Thanks.
dwfighterva 06-22-2007, 01:17 PM Coffeewood is a level 2 and one of the nicer facilities. He may be a level 1 on some and higher on others, like medical, that would bump him up.
Daveswife 06-22-2007, 02:35 PM He may have been classed a 1, but if he has any med problems they won't send him to the 1 facilities, they'll send him to a 2. Not that he does, but it may be a reason.
