Please help!!
Can anyone tell me what are the physiological effects (external) of a drug user are when they are using? (i.e. bloodshot eyes, excessive sweating, speech, failure to get aroused etc. etc.) I am specifically looking for information on: Crack, Coke, Meth, Exctasy. I don't know first hand how these drugs affect a person. If someone was high in my presence, and I didn't see them in the actually doing "the deed", I want to know what to look for.

Excessive weight loss, decline in personal appearance, loss of appetite, going several days without sleeping, dialated pupils, picking at face/skin are a few of the physical problems associate with meth use. A person who is using may also lose interest in normal everyday activities and you may notice that they are nervous, paranoid and/or "jumpy" feeling like everyone is out to get them. I have no experience with any of the other drugs, but feel sure that someone will be able to help you. You can also do a search I know for methamphetamines and get more specific signs and symptoms. I hope this helps.

I always knew my ex was using coke because his bottom jaw would constantly move. As for crack, a burn on the bottom lip from the pipe. If they have snorted the drug, they tend to sniff and mess with their nose a lot.

Just what I've seen with my ex. Not sure if these are "normal" reactions to the drugs.

Someone who uses crack is scare that someone is after them, watching them or following them...They are up all night and day. They can't stop chasing after the drug. I was told along time ago that they are always looking for that first hit, that firsted rush. (the feeling after they take their first hit) Eyes are glasses and bloodshot. They loss alot of weight. Not friendly, always alone.. Maybe on there hand and knees look on the ground for a pieces of crack the may or may not have lost....It is a very addicting drug and people who use this drug usually loss everything. Jobs, money, home, loved ones, bank account.. They would sell their soul for just one hit........I know I have been there done that...Thank god I stop.............minnie:cool:

If they prefer to inject coke with a needle look for bruises, scabs, and scars on the insides of their arms and sometimes on top of their hands. Sometimes they become delusional. Look for a sloppy appearance and irrational thinking.

My man didnt show very many signs. He was very good at hiding it. He was shooting up meth for quite a while before I found out what he was doing it. Actually, I didnt catch on until he starting manufacturing the drug. As someone said before, he would grit his teeth alot. Also, when he started making it, he stayed out in his shed "working" on things but never seemed to get anything done that really needed done. Also, there is an odor that cant really be explained but once you smell it, you will never forget it. He could eat, sleep, and for awhile continued his normal routine until he was so hooked on it he got careless. Hope this helps, PM me if you wish........

Red, bloodshot eyes
A runny nose or frequently sniffing
A change in eating or sleeping patterns
A change in people he hangs out with
A change in behavior (my boyfriend wasn''t on coke or nothing but he would be totaly differnt than he usually was like not caring who he upset and what he said to hurt people)
Acting withdrawn, depressed, tired, or careless about personal appearance
Losing interest in , family, or activities he or she used to enjoy
Frequently needing money
These are some signs I found on a website that is how i look up the signs of drug use and most of them are always true.
I have a sister who is recovering for crank use and a boyfriend who used pain pills. Another thing I that gave Mike away when he was shooting up and my sister said she would be the same way is brunt up candles. I found these a lot or candle wax on things were they melted the drug and got slobby with it. Spoons with burnt spots on the bottom of them (usually they try to hide these things but they aren't always good at it when they are so high.)

Can someone explain the brillo thing to me, they are shaped like a capsule right? As if they just came out of a tube? What's the point of it?

I would also have to say DWINDLING FUNDS!!! Besides the usual that some of the others have mentioned (ie, nervous-thinking someones following them, moodiness, jumpy, Etc) If you start to notice $20 missing here, $10 missing there, then I suggest you do whatever you have to to protect bank acct's, savings, Etc.
As much as you would like to believe that this person isn't stealing from you...
Please know if your loved one is addicted and doesn't get some help they WILL resort to stealing! Even from you, your children, friends, ANYONE!
Please don't wait like I did. My husband never used crack until 10 years into our marriage, and within 2 years we had lost our buisness, 2 vehicles, all our saving/retirement, and our home! Hope this helps someone out there!
God Bless, Jule

My ex was doing crack and glass (now I know itīs the same as Meth) and he would always turn around looking if s.o. follows, or watching the street out of the closed window, at times trying to glimpse through under the appt. door.
And he touched all kinds of stuff and surfaces, towels, clothes furniture. He was also looking for "something" in his pockets or be on all fours to search the carpet.
His sweat had a chemical scent.
I also watched the clothes hanger thing mentioned above - I found it under our bed.
The smoke itsself almost has no scent, maybe a little chemical, but a fan is enough to blow the air "clean".
A bit later he would sit down very calm and qiet for hours. Then he asked for ALOT of beer!
He even did it while we were out! If he didnīt come back from the bathroom in a while, I knew whatīs going on!
I think people behave in different ways while high, so this is just my 2c about my ex.
Be careful!! One day he would smoke sitting right next to me, and he blew all the smoke right into my face. It was not enough to get me real high but enough to make it impossible for me to take off my glasses! No shit! I experienced that "every surface feels so weird" thing, and I can only tell you to be at least in a different room while s.o. is doing drugs!!!! I HATED him doing drugs, but I was glad that he didnīt hide it from me. I feel with all the people whoīre missing money and find their partners behaving weird, and who are scared that they might do drugs!!! HUGS!!!!

My ex of long ago did meth, and I didn't even know it until I was talking with a co-worker who's husband was doing it; both guys were very slick about it, and maintained their hygiene, appearance, etc. The things that clued me in that something was amiss were that even though he took 2 or 3 long showers a day, he always had this weird cat-pee kind of smell. He's get all involved in a project (like cleaning out the garage, or changing a part on his truck), spend hours at it, but make no discernable headway---and often, it was at some bizarre time of day/night. He got really into these disgusting, twisted porn movies & would go in the bedroom & masturbate for HOURS (literally) & then get all mad 'cause nothing happened. Physically, he became very light-sensitive, and had an elevated heart rate, and appeared jumpy and paranoid. Oh, and he lied like a rug (although he did that anyway), and stole from anyone and everyone, and wouldn't go anywhere unless he could be sure of being able to get high. In short, meth turned this guy into an instant sociopath, and even after he quit doing it, he was NOT the same as before---scary stuff.

another sign i didn't see earlier was look for alot of tinfoil and ink pens that have been taken apart.they use this to smoke crank, meth, crystal and crack with.Straws that have been cut short.Money rolled tight. The smell is always there. They really love sex when they are high. This always made me mad, cause it made feel like he had to get high before he wanted me.I thank God every day for the last 3 years that he was dilivered from that stuff. It tore aou world apart. Now when he gets home we have to work to put it all back together agian.

My husband was always drinking so I just always thought that he was drunk and didn't consider he might be high. I found out about his hidden coke addiction and suddenly saw that all the signs where there but I had just been so oblivious to them because I didn't know what to look for. Here's a couple... Unexplained money borrowing/dissaperance, paranoia, runny nose, weight loss, eating habits changed, coughing up bloody mucus in the morning, and towards the end before he got locked up he would be messing with so many other types of drugs and I could always tell what he was on by his sleeping patterns and his performance when we made love...
