jessica23 07-28-2004, 04:13 PM Oceancove,
Welcome to PTO. You will find lots of support here. You might want to go to the CA forum - there is a whole section on what you need to know about CDC and also a sub-forum for San Quentin itself. Also, since SQ is northern CA's reception center, many people ask similar questions about it - you might search a few pages back in the CA, CDC, and SQ forums, you'll find lots of info. You can also PM me if I can be any help, or PM a forum leader - they are always super helpful - if you can't find what you're looking for.
Best,
Jessica

Concerned Mom:angry: Hi oceancove and welcome to PTO and
the San Quentin Forum. I am one of the Forum Leaders for this site, my
husband was a inmate at San Quentin for quite sometime...well a short stay
to say the least. While he is in reception, he will not be able to call home.
I know it's a bummer. If he is there for a parole violation he should have
his morriessy hearing within 35 days, that is one of the rules with the Board
of Prison Terms, however if he is to be transferred to mainline, I have heard
that it takes a minute to do so. And it also depends on whether they have
the room at the Q, if not, they will ship him to another prison. In the meantime, I would suggest that you send him stamps up to 5 sheets per
envelope, a non wire bound note pad so he can write you, a clear pen in
black or blue, and either 100 prestamped envelopes or plain envelopes. I also
put some money on my husbands books, so that when they do get to go to
the canteen, he would have the money to buy food, treats, or personal items.
Sounds to me that your son is in West Block, that is usually where the send
the inbound inmates, or they will put him in the Gym which is called the over
flow. If you have any questions regarding San Quentin, feel free to pm me or
post them here. There are lot's of us that have had, and have loved ones
at the Q. In the meantime, stay strong, we are all here for you too. Take care
and God Bless you. Suzi :)
