My fiance sent me a letter this weekend and he wants to get married asap. He has put in a request with the chaplain and I believe is getting the paperwork. For awhile we didnt know if we were going to wait until he got home or do it now while he is in. Ladies I have to admit that i am nervous..in a good way of course. This means that I will have to go back to TX but I will have my homegirls there with me and my best gal will stand in for him. I cannot believe I am getting married. I knew I would but I had no idea it would be this year at this time. I just needed to vent. Thanks.

I was going to ask the same thing about your girl standing in for him. But I kind of thought when you mentioned texas and your girl standing in for him you were talking about proxy. But anyways, let us know of it goes, I thought about proxy to, when I lived in Florida but now I'm in Cali, so we can do it together. Best of luck hun ! Don't read those stories anymore! I did the same thing. The situation itself makes it difficult without adding that in.

Just curious, why does it have to be by proxy? Can't you just goto TX and stand with him? My man put in the paper work too and sent me the info about who to notify and how to get registered, etc. but it didn't say anything about me having to live in that state. He is in the federal system. I am in NC and he is in MD.

Babieboo -- I am wondering the same thing as a few others mentioned. Why can't you just get married at the prison?? Why do you have to have your girlfriend stand in for him as a proxy??

yes it differs from state to state. You can call the chaplain on his unit and ask him what the process is. i hope this helps you.
