I have never used drugs but all my penpals have been or are currently battling addictions. Sometimes I get letters where the handwriting seems changed or really sloppy and their thought patterns are a little disjointed and they seem more emotional--really up or really down. I wonder if they are using. Are there clues? Or is it just prison?

That's a very good question. Mine has memory lapses. Perfect handwriting, but memory lapses.

Possibilities, but I wouldn't put a whole lotta stock in the handwriting change part. Mine changes back and forth all the time, from side to side even. Might be a mental disorder (ha!) but I haven't done any drugs in years and years and years....

I agree with Lysbeth. Mine changes all the time too depending on my mood, what pen Im using, if I'm in a hurry... all kinds of things.

As far as memory lapses, that could just be from doing drugs in the past.
