Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm confused about something. If someone is convicted of a 'violent crime' at 85%, does that mean they are forever ineligable for a fire camp, even after their points drop and if they have no write-ups? Thanks in advance for any info!

Normally violence excludes you from fire camp. But with CDC you never know. Some here have said that thier loved ones have gone with a "violent" felony.

Best to you!

You dont ever know with the CDC that is right, we were told my husband would serve 85% of his sentance because it was a violent crime, but he got half -time, so who knows with them??? :o

Thank you both for replying. Missie, that is really exciting, gives me some hope, although it always seems like you just have to keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best, plan for the worst! How far in to his bid did he find out he got half-time? I'm very happy for you - that is awesome.

Right after he finished training he got 1/2 for the whole sentence
They sent him to Alturas above susanville Devils Garden camp! He was always gone on the road I hope he either gets a hardship transfer this time closer to home or goes back to camp. I'am disabled and it's painful for me to travel1

I hope yours gets to go through the whole fire camp experience. I'ts alot smaller to not as many inmates and the captains were real nice I called regularly and they let me now how he was doing I tracked him on every fire he went to with there help

Mistify,

Thank you for the info. Was your son's offense originally an 85% "violent felony"? I think the fire camps can be really positive, I would love to see C. be able to do that.

I would like to know also. My boyfriend is trying for fire camp also. Paper work is slow and he can't get any answers. Only one domestic violence when he was much younger. Have you heard anything. Stacy
