Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a new PTO member. I have a fiance in an Alabama prison. He's been in for almost nine years now. He was eligible for parole in May of this year. We're still awaiting his date to be set. I was wondering about the length of time it takes for a date to be set. Also, if granted parole, how long would it take for him to be released? I also wanted to know if anyone knows what the process is to be paroled to another state, I live in Florida. I appreciate any information.

Nica..first of all let me welcome to PTO and our alabama forum which you will find is LOADED with info and we have several active members that are also going thur the same thing..

as for the parole hearings...non-violent cases are FLYing thur...as for violent offenders..it appears that we are at the present time running any where from 12-16 months behind..i know its not good news for you or him, but it is better than the 22 months behind that they where back during the winter...

I'm not sure about the out-of-state business, but Lysbeth will be along later, and i'll bet my oldest child she can give you all the info you need...

as for the release of inmates that have been granted parole.for the sound of things it varies...i believe it is a little longer for the ones leaving the state...but normal its only a week before release (provided that all paper work is in order) with the exception of sex offenders...with those they have to send out the notices before they are release..

Hope this helps and i look forward to see you around out forum here and getting to know you as well...

E1950 can tell you much more about the out of state process as she is currently waiting it out right now. My guy has not been paroled so I really have little knowledge of it.

The time waiting varies from state to state and locality to locality even, that I know. Some people get out quick, within a month or so, some take much longer. A good friend of ours was paroled to Georgia last year and was home within a month; however, E1950's husband is also paroling to Georgia and is still waiting to get out - his hearing was March 29th. It varies all over, really.

Good luck and welcome again to PTO! :)
