View Full Version : I waited 1 whole HOUR
MissOne 07-22-2004, 08:32 AM It had been ten days or more since I heard from Daddy and I was anxiously checking the mail. Yesterday, i was finally able to breathe again when his letter finally showed up. :) I opened all the other mail first and then decided to comb my hair and brush my teeth. Freshen up you know. :p
We had a thread about what ritual you go through when you get a letter. I'd like to know HOW LONG HAVE YOU HELD YOUR HONEY'S LETTER BEFORE OPENING and/or READING IT? It was A WHOLE HOUR before i lay down with my baby. :D
Forever_Lovers 07-22-2004, 08:34 AM I open it and read it as soon as I see I have a letter from him.

sincere76 07-22-2004, 08:37 AM Hey MissOne,
Actually as soon as I get Jeremy's letters I read them. I like to pick them up in the post office, go outside, and read them in the sun. I am just always too anxious too wait. Of course, I haven't heard from him since the 6th, so I hope everything is okay.
Woody's Girl 07-22-2004, 08:37 AM Girl, an hour, sh**, I don't even make it out of the mail room before opening up my baby's letters, I be opening the letter with my keys, and reading while I'm waiting on the elevator, on the elevator, walking the hallway, opening the door, then sitting on the couch once inside my apartment. I be too impatient to wait to read a letter from him.

M_Lutes 07-22-2004, 08:37 AM Ditto - I barely make it out of the post office, and never make it out of the parking lot. hahaha....just desperate I guess.
sickofprisons 07-22-2004, 08:38 AM Same with me- I have absolutely no self control!
lovespell 07-22-2004, 08:55 AM One time I waited a whole day because I had company over and I like to read my letters outside in the sun also, so when people are there it is too hard to go be by myself and I feel like that is my special time to sit and read what my man has to say....I know I am bad, but I like to be by myself with no distractions when I read my baby's letters! :p
It really depends on what I am doing and how busy I am. If the mailman is pulling up when I leave my house for lunch then I have to wait until I get to work. There have been a couple times when I forgot it was sitting next to me because i got so busy. On other days I can't even make it up the stairs to my apartment. It just varies.
babieboo 07-22-2004, 09:17 AM i wait about 1 second to read his mail!!! LOL I dump all the other mail on the table , tear his letter open, and read it about 2 times. I wait til the next day or so to write back.
SoAlone 07-22-2004, 09:42 AM My mailbox is attached to my house. Within arms distance of the front door. When a letter from him is in there I dont even make it in the house. I read it really quick on the top step then when I go inside I sit down and really read it.
Jasonslite 07-22-2004, 11:06 AM Normally I know that I get a letter on Wednesday or Thursday. I usually go to lunch and rip it open before I get back to the car. I will read it in the car, then back at work then at home once again. Today though I am being good by not going home so I can try and savor the moment of looking in the mail box. (by the way its driving me nuts) I don't think I could actually have it in the same room with me and walk away, girl you have some strength.
bunnyrun5 07-22-2004, 12:08 PM I wait until I get my daughter settled and read all the other mail first. Then I go in my room and read the letter from the hubbie. That ususally take around 20 minutes. Then when we are all down for the I read it again, kiss it and sigh.......
CelliePieGrrl 07-22-2004, 12:27 PM LMAO! So many of ya'll sound just like the way I am! :ha: I don't even make it out of the mailroom before I am tearing into his letters!! LOL
MizzCandy 07-22-2004, 12:43 PM I try to open all of my other mail firt and then I read it, I like to listen to our favorite song while I am opening it up. But other than that, since I dont get much mail, it takes me about, 3 minutes!
Willsgirl 07-22-2004, 03:41 PM Sometimes I can hold out till I get home and get comfortable, but other times I stop and read it then I reread it again when I get comfortable. When its one of the really good ones :) I read it right before bed.
HotLatinaMILF4U 07-22-2004, 04:56 PM I am a ritual reader, I admit it. My mailbox is next to my front door, I come home from work, see his letter, enter house, secure house, grab diet pepsi and cigarettes, go to upstairs sitting room, turn on computer, open diet pepsi, light cigarette, RIP OPEN letter read, enjoy, exhale...
I Love Him,
Patty
Alynn528 07-22-2004, 05:03 PM I tear that letter wideopen when it reaches my hand...I cant wait to hear what he has to say in them...but sometimes I do wait like couple of minutes before opening them but that is if I am busy and cant read it right then and there...
mizblack 07-22-2004, 05:53 PM LOL As soon as I'm pulling it out the mailbox I'm ripping it open. I have no self control.LOL
Kobe16 07-22-2004, 10:12 PM GREAT THREAD! well, i'm like some of yall..i like to be by myself when i read his letters. i make sure i get the mail everyday to see if i got something. then i usually read it in the car, then again when i get home. sometimes, i read it again before hittin the bed! ;)
e_wife03 07-22-2004, 10:18 PM I read my husband letters as soon as i get it....
HippieGirl 07-22-2004, 10:33 PM I rip it open the minute it's in my hand then read it about 100 more times after that:D
Wifey2Bee 07-22-2004, 10:43 PM i rip that sucker open right away!
and why is it takin your man so long to write miss one? does he need another wake up call?
sickofprisons 07-23-2004, 01:40 AM Well, I didn't even mention the worst part, which is that the mail comes while my daughter's at school so I read HER letters, too! I used to try to be careful about opening them so I could re-seal them or say it was an accident, but she's on to me- she just rolls her eyes because she knows I HAVE to read the part that always says "tell mom I love her and giver her a kiss for me". I always collect on it, too!
qwerty 07-23-2004, 01:47 AM I rip 'em... :)
Gemini4lif 07-23-2004, 06:53 AM As SOON as I get home and I have mail, my sister knows to leave my mail on my bed. I go into my room, close the door, sit on the bed and proceed to open the envelope...this is all before I have changed out of my work clothes or anything. After I read the mail, I get settled, change clothes, get a cigarette, then go out on the balcony, light up and read it again! I am so neurotic! LOL
MissOne 07-23-2004, 01:44 PM i rip that sucker open right away!
and why is it takin your man so long to write miss one? does he need another wake up call?
Hey ASHLEY :)
At first he was not writing because this pre release program has him writing ten page essays ALL THE TIME. What takes me a few minutes to write takes him ten. But he has confessed to being lazy as of late. I started a thread about that too.:) I think he may need another thread. If I don't get a letter today as he promised, I will start another for his (HARD) AXX (HEAD).
Thank you ladies for sharing. I couldn't believe I held his letter that long. It was really thick too. I hadn't got one that thick in a while. Now since none of you have held a letter for too long, i'm trying to analyze how i could do that. Bottom line, i think i just wanted to make sure all of my attention was focused on him and I was in the best mood I could be before opening it. :p Yeah... that's what i'll tell myself :D
1sassysistah 07-23-2004, 01:54 PM Honey rip that puppy open!!! I usually read it as soon as it arrives. But I do so enjoy sitting in my favorite chair while the sun is shinning thru the window and reading his letters and cards.
strangeanimal 07-23-2004, 05:44 PM I can't wait...til I get a letter, which lately...isn't very often. When it comes...I'm excited, but will go over my other mail first, then get myself settled on my couch. I feel really relaxed there and I then take in what he has written. I'll re-read it numerous times afterwards.
MissOne 07-26-2004, 05:47 PM Don't get me started on how many times i read it.
But once i am done, i file it and i want a new one.
My silver lining is to go back and re-read them when i get none. Which it is real good to re-read them. But i still long want the new ones.
sincere76 07-26-2004, 06:20 PM I read Jeremy's most recent letters over and over again, and when the new letters come, I file the previous ones. Honestly, I have them near memorized lol.
Nuro's Wife 07-26-2004, 06:30 PM I leave the post office excited with the mail in hand:D . Go out to the car and turn the radio off, so that is absolutely quite so I can focus. I read his letters twice right there in the car.
Jesusismyrock 07-26-2004, 06:40 PM When I come home from work I check the mail and if I get a letter I go upstairs to my room lock the door and change into comfortable clothes and lay on my bed to read my letter. My boyfriend knows I go into my "santuary" to read his letters so he includes this in some of his letters like I know you are laying in your bed that is where you should be to rest because you don't rest enough..etc I lock the door because I would have interruptions every few min's from my kids this way I just say mommy is having time by herself I'll be out in 1/2 hour. Sonja
cinderella2004 07-28-2004, 03:29 AM Ha!!! MissOne you are crazy like me!! But I've waited longer, I think I have panic attacks when I get a letter from him. Its also a sense of relief that he sent me something. I got another letter yesterday and I haven't opened it yet. I'm having my tea, will take my bath, get ready for school and open it up. My little ceremony and hopefully a great way to start the day. Take care you crack me up. :)
MissOne 07-29-2004, 10:31 AM Cinderella i'm feeling you. I get ready to read a letter sometimes like i'm getting ready to have sex. Sorta like jesusmyrock. ;) LMAO
But i have went as far as to read while driving down the highway too. I guess it depends on what mood i am in.
jerrysfriend 07-29-2004, 08:10 PM From the time it takes me to get from the post office to the house, and I have been known to pop it open in the parking lot just to read a few lines. I get 3 letters per week, ranging from 7 to 13 pages, back and front. So everything else has to wait til I read my mail from Jerry. And I always have to read it again on the days I dont get a letter. I live for my mail!!!
MissOne 08-19-2004, 01:38 PM I BEAT MY RECORD!!!
Now i have waited an hour and a half. :D
Why am i so happy about this? Because it is showing me that i do have some patience and some control (well atleast a little). ;)
Dre's Lady 08-21-2004, 05:07 AM Hours???? I open the letter as soon as I get it!!!!
