I have tried to set up the BBQ, but haven't gotten any response. Someone on here asked me if we ever get together in AZ. I said yes, but I haven't been able to prove it. Is everyone too busy this summer? Does anyone want to get together? WHAT'S UP?

I am in Phoenix and my husband is "sitting" in Durango awaiting a possible extradition to South Carolina. He has only been there a week and it's driving me nuts. I think it would really nice to set up a get-together for us in AZ and if you need any help please let me know. I will do whatever I can :thumbsup:

Ok. That's 5 people, because I know LadyDinAZ, Littleoneinaz, and I want to get together too. We just have to figure out people's schedules, decide if we want to meet at Cave Creek Park again, and see if we can recruit anyone else.
As for me - I think we should set it up around 4-5 PM at the park on a Saturday.
Not the 31st, though. That's too soon.

I am in Mesa, but I would love to get together. Let me know when and where and what to bring....

im in phoenix, central area, i dont know where cave creek is..I have mon, tue, and weds off from work, on the weekends i work from 2-10 pm thats my schedule

The park is actually called "Rose Mofford Park" now and it is off of Peoria & the I-17 freeway. I will bring brownies and diet coke (LOL) once we set a date and time. I'm going to PM a few people from the last BBQ and see what's up.
Babylove, that schedule really sucks. I know that most of us are going to be available on the weekends.

I will wear one of the shirts I got at the Prison store when my husband was in Florence. It says "I survived AZ State Prison" or something.

If you know anyone who would like to go, please invite them. Bring your kids!!

Here's some suggestions for things to bring:

tin foil
cups
ice & ice chest
soda (a LOT - I'm bringing a 6 pack of Diet Coke)
snacks/deserts (I'm bringing brownies)
hamburger & hot dog buns
hamburger or hot dogs
plastic forks, spoons, knives
veggie tray
fixings: mustard, ketchup, relish, onions, lettuce, tomatos, water
any food you can make
bucket of chicken or a pizza
anything you want

for fun: photos of your man, letters & a blank card for everyone to sign to send to him to show your support and ours.

Cool, so far. Lets work on getting some more people on board. If you carpool with anyone to prison or know anyone else that has people in prison or you know someone here in AZ that hasn't posted - make them come. LOL
OH!! The "theme" for our get together is "prison orange", so if you see any cute decorations with prisoners or orange decorations, list it on this post with what you are bringing (example: orange balloons, orange plastic table cloth, orange napkins, orange streamers, orange bows, cut outs or graphics of cartoon prisoners etc.)

The last (and first) one we did was in May. 13 people promised to show up, but only LadyD, Littleoneinaz, Luisychris and I showed. Prior to that someone else planned one, but I ended up eating my brownies alone because a location was ever decided.
So, this is three and a 1/2 months after the first one. After regular people start coming & we get a stronger group formed, we can decide how often we will do them. For now, I am just checking interest and seeing if people want to do it whenever I have free time.
By the way - I am still waiting on more volunteers for food and decorations. Also, I will be there even if my kids and I are eating brownies and drinking Diet Coke alone until 6PM.

If I am not working I would love to come because its not far from where I live, I am in the process of looking for a new job to where I dont work on the weekends so i will let you know when it gets a little closer to the day..ok :)

I will definetely be there. My kids are really excited. So just let me know if there is anything you want me to do or anything extra for me to bring...

Thank you, Missingmyguy. I'm getting kind of stressed about it because not many people are planning on bringing anything, but oh well we'll make do with what we have. I keep hoping for a better turn out at these things, so we can build our support system in Arizona, but with everyone's schedules it's very difficult.

Hi, I would absolutely love to come, and I know of a few people who would probably like to come as well. I will be bringing hot dogs, buns and the fixings for them, also some more soda and some chips or pretzels. I am so glad to be able to meet other people with similar situations to mine. :) Also, I will probably bring a blank card of some sort for everyone to sign as well, just for fun.

:( I so badly wanted to come, but I cannot. I will be out of town that weekend due to my best friend's baby shower. She had failed to inform me she was having it on Saturday the 14th, until late last night. I am sorry. I really wanted to be there, and meet everyone. However, I would love to come to the next one, I will mark the date on my calendar as far in advance as I am aware of it, and will definately be there!!!

I will be able to go if I can carpool with someone that lives in my area, I live off of 14th street and roosevelt...and please let me know whats left to bring

Hey was waiting for an hour, didnt see anyone with orange on or even close just a lot of blue for a baseball game that was going on. O-well cant say I didnt try.

yvonne and I were there we left at like 7 pm, yvonne was wearing a kinda of yellish shirt and we were near the basketball court. Her and I were the only ones there. :(

We were at the picnic table North of the playground, just like I posted. The same table as last time, actually. I had on a yellow "Arizona State Prison" shirt and 1/2 of my kids had orange on (other 2 wearing red, because I couldn't find orange for them). I didn't get decorations, because other people said they would bring them.
I'm sorry you couldn't find us AZ-Tears. We hung out until 7PM and kept looking around for other people. We didn't see anyone wearing orange or carrying stuff looking around at all. I think you were in the wrong area, because baseball is WAY over from the rest of the park. Do you still have my phone number?
