My husband told me to send him a money order to him at San Quentin prison. He told me to make the money order out to him directly, but I thought I had to make the money order out to CDC with his name and number written in the memo part of the money order. That's how I used to send the money orders when he was at the county jail. Does anyone know the correct pay to the order name should be? CDC or his name?

Make the MO out to him and put his # on it. Use a postoffice MO it will get through faster. Barb

Yep, I use a postal money order and make it out to him, with his CDC# next to his name. I address the money order just like you do an envelope...but the post office needs to revamp their money orders and give us another line so we don't have to squeeze it all in 3 lines...:)
I just put it in a regular letter or card to him, and he gets a slip with the letter that says that they sent it to the accounting department (or whatever it is called). A couple weeks later he gets a paper saying it was posted to his books.

Do as they other ladies have said, but for him to get it quicker and I am not sure if this goes for all prisons in california but when I send one to my guy it is United States Postal Money Order and I send it to him ALONG with signature confirmation OR registered mail it cost me about 4.85 with the priority handling and I am in Indiana would be cheaper for those in California I would think ... although not sure anyways -- when you do that it is applied on his books within 2 days of his receiving it ;) because they have to have him sign for it and return it within 24 hours is what I was told. Not sure how they do it but Steve does get his within 2 days on his account after he receives it:) ......just a little tip that someone that works at the prison told me and it DOES work:thumbsup:

I always send a postal money order with his name and # on it. They bring it to him. He has to sign it and then it gets posted in his account.
