Hello I am new to this site. My hubby is on his way to IMCC. The court system here in Iowa is messed up!! He got sentenced to two years for driving on a sup. License. All behind some d*** fines!! Anyway I have a few questions I hope someone will be able to answer.

1) I have a prepaid account with Evercom for the collect calls that he has had from jail, is this still going to work when he goes to Oakdale or do I have to set up a prepaid account with the prison?

2) How much time will he have to do on a 2 year sentence? I heard something about the time gets split in half when they get to Oakdale.

3) Back about 10 years ago a friend of mine had a man in prison and she use to go to JC Penny's and get stuff for him and had it sent right from the store. Is it possible for me to order things for my hubby and have it sent directly from the company?

4) My hubby has real long hair and he was told that as soon as he gets to Oakdale they will make him cut all his hair off is this true?

5) Why is it that he cannot take any personal property (under clothes!!!) with him from the jail when he gets transported?

Any help will be appreciated

you might check with the prison or where you have a prepaid acct for question 1. 2.you usually figure 1/2 the time plus if they allow good time. 3. for ordering check with the prison. 4. check with the prison because they have rules and requlatins on your hair. 5. there are several reasons for this. it can be for safety reasons even though hell be wearing the county uniform beig a jumpsuit or 2pc with sandals and restraints. also at the prison they issue their own,buy from commisary, and depending what level.

You must prepay with check or money order through Oakdale for phone calls.
You should have him try for reconsideration. I would try for this right away.
No you can't buy from other stores, they musy order from the prisons outlets.
You send him a money order in care of the prisons warden so he can buy things.

Just wanted to let you also know that once he gets to oakdale he will be there for up to a month and no visits are allowed. Do be surprised if you dont get a phone call the first week at least. He will get 2 envelopes a week to write but thats it. Money orders and cashiers checks are the only way to send money to him. Also if you log onto the Iowa department of corrections website, you can get the prepaid phone forms to send him money for his phone account. Also once he gets ahold of you make sure he sends you a visitation form so that by the time he is done with oakdale you can be approved for visits. (you must send a copy of your marriage license with your visitation application to prove your relationship). Hope some of this information helps you out, good luck and keep your head up, the first couple months are going to be stressful but in time it will get easier. If there is anything else I can do for you let me know, my husband is currently serving a 2 year revocation in Anamosa so if you have any questions about anamosa, oakdale, or luster heights I can give you the answers and if not I will get them.

youll hafta send either a cashiers check or a money order with a phone account form. make sure you send that all by itself, not with a letter. you hafta send atleast $20. like you said time gets split in half while hes there. so if hes supposed to be there for 2 months it will end up only being 1 month as long as he doesnt mess up. so tell him to be on his best behavior!! he'll only get 2 envelopes a week and they hafta both be sent out on tuesday. i have no idea why the dont get to take their underwear and stuff! it sucks! my man says that he has to wear these really icky whity tighties!! i hope i helped out alittle! if you need anything else just ask me, my mans there right now and i know the whole drill!! also if you want you can call imcc and talk to his counselor and sometimes theyre really nice and will give you alot of info! the number there is 319/626-4238. hope i helped!! stay strong!!

what does he mean by really icky whity tighties? is it is white underwear or his 1 or 2pc uniform without underclothing? you think not having to be allowed to wear underclothing during transport sucks this next line will suck even more. when my ex-wife took me to court with her lies I found out that after the process I would only be able to wear the issued orange jumpsuit with orange sandals, but also for visits they would put schackles on me in order for my visit to start.

so you were saying that he was wearing only his issued county uniform and footwwear w/o no underclothing for transport? what i meant was that if my ex-wife would have goten me sentenced thats what the county jail told me,including the type of shackles could very that could be put on. are you saying the whole thing is crazy?

no i didnt get sentenced this time but might next year in spring if found guilty on lies. yes, it will suck to wear whatever or amt of shackles along with just my county issued orange jumpsuit with orange sandals for non-contact visit which also might have a search done. this is what my girlfreind would be seeing me in.

so your ex wife is making stuff up?? i hear ya cuz aarons ex girlfriend that is pregnant with his kid keeps making up stuff saying that he hits her and stuff like that. then she got a no contact order on him. now shes saying that he violated 3rd person so hes gonna be in even longer. its so stupid. i dont understand why everyone just goes by her word. its like no matter what he says they automatically think hes lying. i hate it. i feel so bad for him cuz he has to put up with this stuff just because shes mad that hes with me and not her.

my ex wife will continue to make stuff up untill she gets stoped. the reason they dont belive us is because the court sees this on paper and they take it seriously against us. if shes like my ex and he dont want to be back in jail you both need to do what i do which has helped so far but dont know for next year. you ca pm me also so we can talk more and exchange some info because it will be easier to talk on the phone.

To find out exactly about time count, call IMCC, direct yourself to the records office and ask to talk to someone in time count. they are very nice as long as you are nice to them. they can't tell you exact without having the file right in front of them but they can give you a pretty good idea!
