I don't know about that since my man is already at community. I will email Ann at DOC and post her answer tomorrow.
Have a great day.

That really stinks, so anything else new? My fiancee' will be going to community soon. He will sign his papers in Sept. and we are still hoping for Musk. His case worker said he would put in for him to go there because of his mom. We are so afraid that he will go somewhere far off. It looks like they would keep the inmates close to family so they could keep in contact but I know it don't always work out like that. He will be at 2921 days at the end of Sept. Can you tell me what happens when someone comes up for parole and they don't have a job set up but everything else has been good? I mean no write ups or misconducts and has always had a good work history.

My fiance' went up last March. No write ups, no misconducts, good work history, but no job waiting on him and he got 2 yes votes and 3 no votes. How in the heck am I supposed to get HIM a job????? But they look at a lot of other things also. Like my fiance is a repeat offender and as a afc tacked on to one of his charges now. But I sent 2 letters to each of the board members last week begging for the next parole docket. The 2 women said yes and the 3 men said no on his last parole. I'm praying that they will get him on the next docket. Even if they don't then in Sep. he will be half way house eligible.

Thanks Skunkette, and mommahen, it is a scary situation not knowing what's gonna happen when the time comes. I have been trying to get something out of the parole board for a very long time and I have yet to hear from them. The place where he was gonna live has kinda feel thru so now I am looking for a place for us. I currently live in some apartments and we know he can't stay here because of his felony. And lord know's we don't want no more trouble. I just don't understand the system how do they expect someone to already have a job when they are going to a community where they know no one. I don't know anyone well enough to give him a job. His uncle does live here and he know's a lot of people and he did say that he would give him a job or get him one but who know's if that will really go thru. I'm not saying his uncle is lieing but when the time comes you just don't know what people will really do. I mean his aunts and uncle still haven't wrote their letter to the parole board like they said they would either. I'm coming to realize that all me and him have is each other and it is really up to us to get things set up. I don't have family here but I do have the folks I work with and they have been really supportive about all this. Friends of mine that are willing to write letters on my behalf for him. Well thanks for listening to that little spill. I guess I needed to vent a little. It gets a little frustrating sometimes and I feel like I have no where to turn. I mean I could write him and talk to him but I don't like for him to know that it gets me down.

I don't believe that I would let the Parole Board know that you are all he has. That is what I did and he didn't make parole. I believe that they want to know that they have a lot of support when they get out here. Even if it isn't from family. If you can get people you know to write. Anything, anyone. You must have a home for sure because if he makes it they will do a home inspection. When is his parole hearing? You might have to write the letters your self from the family members and see if you can get them to sign them. Also try to get him to write or you may also have to write for him. Your co-workers letters would work. Where do you live? I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless

It can be confusing, bettysboop. DOC counts a sentence in days, not months or years. So, you have to switch the years sentence to days. Then once those days get down to 1,095, an inmate is eligible to go to a half way house.

I have a counter right below my sig picture. That is the total number of days the DOC can keep him if he serves his full sentence. Once that number gets down to 1095, he could go to a half way house, but not before then.

Hope this helps, if not just post again for clarification or you can PM me :)

I'm sorry I didn't state that right. It means when you are down to 1095 days remaining on your sentence then you can go to a half way house. You know they get time slips every month telling them their monthly credits and their days remaining. When that paper says they are down to 1095 remaining they can go.

Okay so Brady only has 1,000 days left and after August 1st he will only have 935 left so will he go to a half way house or does he have to apply how do I find out if he can go to one or not?

Under the new guidelines he is now eligible for a halfway house and they should be taking the steps to get him there. He will have to sign a transfer packet and they will month him sometime after that usually within 30-45 days to halfways. The reason he hadnt gotten that packet before was until this change they had to have 730 or less days let to be halfway eligible. Hope that helps clarify it for you.

When you reach the 1095 days remaining, does it matter what your offense is to be eligibly for the halfway house? I know I was told that for community it depended on the offense. I didn't know if it was the same for the halfway house.

I do believe that it has to be a non violent crime and I dont believe that sex offenders are eligible since they are basically being let back into a community early. This lady should be able to help answer any questions you have she was very helpful when I talked to her.
