First of all, my name is pookie and I have a loved one in a Texas Federal Prison. Before I go on, I like to say hello to everyone and I think this site is one of a kind and I am glad it was put together for those of us needing support, questions answered, advice, etc..... OK as I was saying, My sweetheart gets out of prison in Sept or Oct of 2006. Yes, as you can imagine it is real hard, but there is no greater gift on earth than the gift of love, and there is no greater power than love but God Himself, who gave us the gift! So I am in waiting, but my question is for anyone who knows a little about what I need to know. When he is released, he will of course be on a 3 year probation period. He wants to move here with me in Chicago. Will Texas allow him to move to Chicago immediately upon release? First of all, he is in prison on a gun charge and has to do a mandatory 5 year sentence. That is all he was charged for. He had to also do some state time which was not concurrent ----which Thank God is done already. Will he be able to come to Chicago? His paperwork says that he will be released to the county that charged him in the first place. I am learning a lot since being with him about the system, but I really don't know this part of it and neither does he. Can anyone give me some insight on the procedures of what probation allows? Also, is it very hard to get a job after having a class D felony on your record? Thank you for your input>:)

Sorry I missed this post. No he will not be allowed to come to Chicago immediately. He will have to put in for a transfer from Texas to Illinoise, & he will have to get Illinoise to accept him. This can be a time consuming process, & will take a few months to do if they allow him to do it.-----------Ken
