Hi everyone!
I'm new to this, so bear with me. This seems like a great place to find answers and receive and give support for those who need it, so I'm giving it a shot.
I met my boyfriend just a couple weeks before he was sent away to prison. We have the most wonderful relationship that just continues to grow even though we are just communicating through letters now. He writes me everyday and sends about 90 pages of letters a week! We connect on such a deep level that is unimaginable but real. He was sentenced on Halloween of this year to 4 to 20 years in prison for first degree home invasion. He was drunk one night in February and doesn't remember much other than being in a strange house and getting shot three times by the homeowners. He opened the front door to a neighbors house with the keys they had left in their garage and they were lawfully dwelling in the home (the reason for first degree). He took a check for the man of the household which accounted for the larceny and was shot both in and outside the house while trying to flee. He had no weapons and is a first time offender. Garold (my boyfriend) received Judge Grant of Jackson County though and John McBain as the prosecuting attorney who was running for circuit court judge and got a lot of publicity out of the deal. The day he was sentenced there were a group of high school students visiting in the courtroom too, so basically he was screwed.
Garold has brought so much to my life and I pray for him everyday, am doing everything I can to get him out early on appeal, and will wait for him no doubt. I know this might sound silly to anyone reading but I have never met anyone with as big a heart and so loving as him before, so waiting is not an issue for me. The injustice of this situation however is. Garold took my mother to the hospital for a toothache that was debilitating to her when he didn't even know her. He tipped an elderly cook one day that made her cry tears of happiness for his small gift. He donated $45 to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and put the saying on the wall of Eagle's Nest restaurant "This is a small price to pay to help the kids!" which was printed in the Southeastern Sun in the Jackson Citizen Patriot in November. He has a two year old son, Christopher, who needs him and he can't stand the fact that he can't be a good father to him right now. In such a short time, he has become my love, not just because of how he treats and cares for me, but because his passion, love, and devotion to others also.
So that is my story. Right now I am just trying to deal until he gets classified and placed so that I can see him. He's been in the Egeler Center for 34 days now even though they told me it would only be 30 days because the prisons are overcrowded and they keep sending people back there for long periods of time for stupid things. I miss him so much but I know I have to be strong for him.:) Sorry this is so long. I'd appreciate any opinions or advice you may have for me! Hope everyone is well!
