View Full Version : Arkansas Govenor Huckabee
Govenor Huckabee is getting attacked from all sides because he actually believes that people can change and deserve a second chance. Please take a few minutes of your time and write or telephone or email the Govenor and let him know that there is support for his use of clemency, pardon and parole.
Ladies and gentlemen out there in cybersapce! we number in the MANY thousands of potential voters, we have a voice if we will use it.
I am personally sick and tired of hearing how awful it is to give our loved ones parole or pardons or clemency.
If we make our voice known in support of the Govenor, then if nothing else he will know that not everyone believes in "lock em up and throw away the key".
Govenor Huckabee ph.# 501-382-2345 fax # 501-682-1382
address: State Capitol Little Rock, Ar. 72201
rojitaandkeith 07-14-2004, 07:13 PM My finance just got denied for clemency, he is a good guy and the whole charge should of been dropped. I was told not to worry because he would come home (keep in mind I was told by very important people). But, he just approved two other people on convicted murder charges. And my fiance only has a battery charge and is set to get out in Feburary anyway. Tell me why governor huckabee said it was denied becuase he spoke with the victims family and they didn't think it was a good idea. THe victim was a crack head that tried to shoot us. And on the news the other night the victim's family of the two men he approved said that he hadn't even spoke with them.
Tell me who's paying who and for what?????????
crisnclay 07-15-2004, 07:36 AM rojita, how long did it take for your boyfried to get his results back? Once the board sent the app to the gov. Did the board approve his clemency?
rojitandkeith
I totally understand your frustration and I am not saying the Gov. is perfect or that he has not turned down deserving good people like your loved one, I know many that have been turned down and deserving..... All I am saying is that instead of being resentful or asking who's palm is being greased?.... at least he's helping someones loved one, no! it's not mine nor yours, but with as many people locked up in Arkansas and multiply that times their loved ones, we should SUPPORT anyone who helps anyone in our situation.
I'm sorry, but if those of us who know whats it's like to have the man or woman or son or daughter locked up and can't be happy and supportive of those that get clemency or a pardon or parole, then I just don't know what to say.
Anyway, I am very happy to know that there is only a hundred or so days left for your man.
rojitaandkeith 07-15-2004, 06:32 PM The board approved his clemency on May 3rd, and he was notified by the govenor on July 12th.
Roji
Did you find out who's paying who and for what?????????? No, seriously I am very, very happy for you and your loved one, congratulations! Now will you write or call the Gov's office and voice support? The wolves (prosecuting atty's) are at his door, please support the Gov's courage to grant these clem's, pardons etc.
Do you have any words of wisdom for those that are in this process? Did ya use an attorney or present on your own?
May God Bless you and your soon to be home loved one
Which prison is he at? My husband is at the Tucker Therapeutic Community. I want to file clemency papers for him but don't know the procedures. Can you help?
kmac
your husband is in an Arkansas prison, Tucker? if so then the very first thing is to contact the IRO (Institutional Release Officer) at that Unit. This person should have the forms which have to be filled out (be sure they are the revised ones) they were revised 5-10-04, now you do not have to have an atty. to complete them your choice, the usual fee is $5000.00 more or less. I have heard of people who were successful with and without an atty.
The Board meets every last Thurs. of the month in Little Rock and it is open to the public and is a good idea to attend to see how it all works and let them match faces with applications.

The board approved his clemency on May 3rd, and he was notified by the govenor on July 12th.
I'll call and do that. We live in Centerville, TN but he was arrested in AR therfore sentenced to serve there. He also has Hep C and that has been a nightmare also since they won't treat him. Will I need to send the paper to him to complete? As you can see, I need all the help I can get. I know absoutely nothing about all of this.
Thanks!!
kmac
the institution he is in should have the forms to be completed, now it will probably take both of you working on it because it is good to have letters saying that he is a good person etc. and anything showing how he should be paroled, clemency or whatever your asking for.

Do you know if there is a minimum time they have to serve before they can apply for clemency or commuting of sentence to time served?
kmac
the appplication part C. states, "If your application is based on your belief that your sentence is excessive or that your instittional adjustment has been exemplary and the ends of justice have been achieved, the application will oridinarily be denied if you have not served thwe portion of your sentence indicated by the folloing table:Life sentence..20yrs., over 30yrs...7yrs., 25-30yrs...6yrs., 22-24yrs...5yrs., 19-21yrs...4yrs.,16-18yrs...3yrs., 11-15yrs...2yrs., below 11yrs...1year.
If you believe that this table should not apply in your case, you should petition the post prison transfer board in writing, for a waiver of these rules."
hope this helps.
his_lil_sis 08-15-2004, 12:02 AM Hi, My brother is also in Tucker, he was in TC but the pressure was too much for him so he dropped...He is in on aggravated Robbery under 70% serving a 7 year sentence..
Matthew's_Angel 08-15-2004, 12:36 AM Hey his_lil_sis,
my fiance is in Tucker also. He is serving a 60 yr sentence on Poss w/Intent. This Nov he will have been in 7 yrs. We are trying for a time reduction.
What brks is he in? Mine is in Brks 9.
his_lil_sis 08-15-2004, 01:11 AM my brother is also in Barracks 9,how ironic hugh ? my brother's last name is Epperson, he is actually their Barracks porter...what is the process for time reduction ? He is in under the 70% on aggravated charges ..has one year behind him.
My husband is in 7 barracks. His last name is McDonald. He started the program at Tucker last fall and should complete it the middle of next month. I don't know where they will send him after that, but I'm hoping he'll stay at Tucker. It's only a five hour drive from home to there so that's not too bad. I can only afford to visit him once a month, though which is the hard part. He'll be gone a year on September 11th and his first parole date isn't until June of 2007. This is my first experience with this type of ordeal and it's awfully hard to deal with. I miss him so much.
his_lil_sis 08-16-2004, 02:14 PM I understand how difficult it can be to have a loved one in carcarated and unable to see them as often as you would like to...My brother was in Brickeys whenever he first got sent to ADC, that was almost a 4 hr drive from our home in Morrilton, it took longer to drive there than we got to visit but it was so good seeing him, but leaving is always hard.. :( my brother is in Barracks 9..what day will you go for a visit again ? I am going this saturday, the 21st, maybe one day we can meet there...feel free to email me anytime at motownma@cswnet.com
His visiting day is Sunday. I am planning on visiting this weekend. You can e-mail me at kathy@abinsurance.com also any time you want.
missmyson2 08-19-2004, 08:06 PM  Thanks pods, . . .you are so right on. Just sent an email to the Governor this evening.
