View Full Version : Do you pass letters for him?
babieboo 07-13-2004, 10:38 AM Do you any of you pass letters for your man between he and his friends. If you do, do you read what they write each other? I did and I feel kind of bad but they didnt say I couldnt read it. I thought the letter was for me.
lunachild 07-13-2004, 11:01 AM No, because you can get in trouble, and lose privilages and he doesn't want any prison cohorts knowing where I live, because I am a single mother with kids. He tears my envelopes up and throws them away so no one can get my address. Here, if your return address isn't on the envelope they just throw them away.
LeaAnn 07-13-2004, 11:15 AM My man has never asked me to pass letters on to anyone.
toi_ama 07-13-2004, 11:22 AM You can lose your visits and the right to write to him by passing letters, I think. I don't think it's worth the risk. Not to mention that it's not cool for the other people to have your address, like lunachild said.
loveSunnyH 07-13-2004, 11:23 AM I did it a couple times when Charlie was inside, but only to (and from) his brother, who is still inside. I never really read them, Charlie told me he didn't care if I did or not. But I always wrote them in black ink when I was passing a letter and kind of "stuck" their letter "inside" mine like it was a page of MY letter, because they CAN get in trouble unless it is approved by both wardens. In Charlie's case it was about a onth before he was released and it would have taken longer than that for the wardens to approve them writing directly to each other.
My man has asked me to pass notes to one other guy for him, but i have yet to get around to it. I never thought about getting in trouble. I just figured it was done a lot and not much thought was put into it, but I guess I will think twice about doing it now.
Nancy&Ricky2as1 07-13-2004, 11:34 AM Yes I do, His cousin writes from county, then I take it out, read it, then put in in an envelope with my address and his name, mail it to Ricky, and Rick does the same thing, Ricky will send me a letter for his cousin I'll take it out read it, then send it to Michael. But he also never said I couldnt read them.
Roger's Girl 07-13-2004, 11:38 AM Nope, he has never asked.
SoAlone 07-13-2004, 11:38 AM Ive never been asked to but Babie, I would have definetly read it. For no other reason except Im sooo nosey.
jeffsprincess 07-13-2004, 11:42 AM YES TO ONE GUY I DO. HE MAILS THEM TO ME AND I READ THEM TO JEFF OVER THE PHONE, BUT I WOULDNT DO IT FOR ANYONE ELSE EXCEPT THIS GUY. I OWE HIM MY LIFE. THE NIGHT JEFF WAS STABBED, HE WAS HOLDING HIS EYE AND THREW DOWN HIS SHANK. THIS KID STARTED RUNNING TOWARDS JEFF TO STAB HIM IN HIS BACK AND HIS MAN MJ JUMPED INFRONT OF IT AND TOOK TWO STABS IN THE CHEST FOR JEFF. HE ALMOST DIED. THAT IS THE LEAST I CAN DO FOR HIM.
jasonsmyhoney 07-13-2004, 11:58 AM Yes I Do. Jasons Best Friend Is In A Different Prison Than He Is In So Sometimes Jason Will Send A Letter To Me For His Friend And Ill In Turn Send It To The Guy, Then The Friend Will Write Jason Back And Send The Letter To My House Then Ill Send It To Jason With A Letter Of Mine. Yes I Do Read The Letter (most Of The Time To Be Nosy) But More To Make Sure Theyre Not Talking About Something Illegal Then It Ends Up Coming Back To Me. I Dont Really Think Theyll Suspend My Wrting Priveledges Or Jasons If Theyget Caught With It, But Then Again They Do Open And Inspect All Of The Inamtes Incoming Mail And Ive Been Doing This For Awhile Now And No Ones Ever Said Anything. I Think That The Most Theyll Tell You To Do If The Worst Happens Is Not To Do It Again....
No Way, My Friend Just Got A 6 Month Suspension For Passing A Letter. Its Not Worth It.
kim48 07-13-2004, 02:21 PM My ex asked me to do it twice. Once I sent a letter to a friend of his in federal prison and got a notice back that it was sent through "unauthorized channels". Then before I broke it off, he asked me to send one with his prison address on it to an inmate in another prison. I thought that was against the rules, but he said no, so I sent it. I don't know if he got into trouble or not.
Dre's Lady 07-13-2004, 03:13 PM My man is so by the book at the camp, so he doesn't ask me to do anything that would get him in trouble.
Forever_Lovers 07-13-2004, 03:31 PM I have passed letters for my husband before and I read them. I put my husbands name on the return address and put my neighbors address on the letter. We haven't had any problems.
Sadie80 07-13-2004, 03:42 PM I have never been asked, and I wouldn't do it anyway.
penwife 07-13-2004, 03:51 PM If one of his trusted friends wants to get word to my man they usually call me or have their wifes call. I don't mind paying for a phone call now and then because these guys would help us in a heart beat if we ever needed it.
No not passing them. Some of his buds that are at other facilities. Will send letters to him Addressed to me. Then I tell my Husband what they wrote. And then I will write them back for him.
babieboo 07-13-2004, 04:16 PM Wow I didnt know i could get in trouble. His ex cellie wrote me and put a letter for my man in the letter and I sent it to him. Well I am going to write them both back and tell them sorry I do not want to risk getting in any trouble.
California Sunshine 07-13-2004, 04:28 PM Nope he has asked me to twice and I haven't because I don't want to take a risk of getting myself or him in trouble for it
HotLatinaMILF4U 07-13-2004, 05:36 PM I do not pass letters but I do write letters on my man's behalf to friends of his and they write back to me. I read their letters to him on the phone. No funny business involved just old friends staying in touch.

Cubana 07-13-2004, 06:09 PM I do........ I'll either read to him or send it to him. They are both careful not to indicate where they are if the mailroom does read it. They don't know where it's coming from. How else will they know if one of them is dumb enough to write it in a letter.
bfawayinpa 07-13-2004, 08:24 PM The only thing i do is send letters for my mans friends to his gf since he can't write her in the jail she's at. i guess its a bad idea but like my fiance says if it was wouldn't you want someone to help.its not my fault she did something stupid. who knows but i'll do it for a little while then it'll have to stop.
jeffsprincess 07-13-2004, 08:28 PM LADIES IF YOU ARE DOING THIS, JUST TYPE THEM AND SIGN LOVE ME OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. ACTUALLY HIS FRIEND IN JAIL HAS A WORD PROCESSOR AND THEY COME TO ME TYPED, I JUST USUALLY READ IT TO JEFF CAUSE WE TALK BEFORE I GET TO MAIL IT OUT.
Tomi Castillo 07-13-2004, 08:30 PM well I have a funny story to tell you or maybe it is not a funny story but a sad one.
well my husband was going to ask me if I would mail this letter out for one of his friends. but my husband forgot to about the letter before he was able to go back to his dorm the guard call him to the office and checked his lunch pale. Well my husband is in fire camp and he was on call he put two tacos in his lunch pale after our visit. He did not think he was going to get in trouble for this it is FOOD for the love of god. well the guard got mad at him and told him to take his clothes off (I thought that was my job :) But anyways my husband told him ok I have nothing to find well as I said he forgot about this letter so when he took his clothe off what falls out the LETTER. Let me tell you what this letter cost us 90 day visits suspension and we were going to have a family visit that next weekend well that was gone also. A letter I had not idea of and that he forgot he had. that goes to show you put the letters in the mail. I can laugh about it now but when he told me about the letter, 90 days suspension & our family visit was taken away you know I cried for days. I felt so bad because cuz I had done things wrong. But there is the system for us !!!!
jasonsmyhoney 07-13-2004, 08:47 PM i think that a bigger deal may be made out of it than needed. maybe some prisons are more strict than others, but i have done things like that many o times for jason anmd theres never been a problem. maybe i should just consider myself lucky, but its not like when the mailroom reads the letters they know its coming from another inmate from someplace else. how do they know that my cousin or brother or someone else other than an inmate didnt decide to write and just have me mail the letter along with mine???? i mean unless someone can truly prove that the letter is from another inmate how could you really get in trouble????
Alynn528 07-13-2004, 08:55 PM No, My baby never asked me to do that but he always wrote like my little brother and our son (and he cant read yet) Brennan knows if there another letter for someone else I will read plus I am nosey like that..
Cubana 07-16-2004, 07:58 PM Sorry to hear about the FOOD. My husband just got transfered to a fire camp and they let them take ALL the left over food to their rooms. The guy who takes the pictures come around and collects it. And he doesn't even get checked. He just walks up the hill straight into the dorm. Guess we're luck at this camp. And he gave me a letter that day too, for his cellies girl in chowchilla. And they let EVERYONE make out and touchy feely. I LOVE IT THERE.
Wifey2Bee 07-16-2004, 09:47 PM Nope. Too Much Trouble For Me. We Might Lose Your Phone And Writing Prividlegs. Also If A Crime Comes Out Of It Guess Who Can Get Arrested????
