Are collect calls costing everyone a fortune? Doesnt any phone company accomadate collect calls with discounts of some sort? Opening my phone bill monthly is becoming a very tramatic experience but I would die without talking to him on the phone during the week.

Unfortunatly in canada i believe your only two choices are Bell Canada and SPrint but sprint looks good and you will save money until you add up there collect calls!! It is a never ending battle!! I wish there was something we could do!!

My phone bills are ridiculous! Especially ever since the prison changed the phone company with whom they deal with. Now it's ZPDI and when it transfers to my Bell Canada bill, the charges are crazy. You should find out if maybe the prison where your man is at has phone cards that he can buy from commissary. You send him $$, and he buys the prepaid phone cards. It might be cheaper.

Check out www.prisoncallsonline.com (http://www.prisoncallsonline.com) This particular service is available in most areas. To cover the basics of what it is, you pay an initial one time start up fee of something like 40$, then each month you are charged 25$ to use the service. This service gives you a number for your loved one to call you from in the prison, it is not a calling card it is legal in the prisons, and on that special # you are charged a much smaller fee then what you are being billed now. When I got my estimate ( they will give you an estimate when you check the site out for yourself ) the price of my calls from a prison in CA where my husband is at to my home in BC, were about 9$. Without the service they are 13.20$ They use to be 25$ before when he was at a different facility!!!! It depends on how many calls you accept to see if it is worth it, if you talk quite abit it will definatly save you money. Also, another great feature about it was that you can forward the number that he is calling you on to accept the call on your cell phone, or wherever you are boing to be so you are not tied at home waiting for the call. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the information. I am checking into it right now and hopefully it is offered in Ontario. My bills are killing me and I need to hear my man everyday. :)
