Sue can tell everyone anything they want to know about the Therapeutic Community (TC) program there. It is very intense but a good program. They also offer some others there.

Wade Wafford was at Draper some years ago and I have it on good authority ;) he's an alright kind of guy...

theraputic community at St. Clair is a very good program. however it is a very rough program to make it through. it will literaly tear your man down and build him back up again. it is very structured and very strict. they have circle, where they have discussions among themselves about how they are feeling. believe me, if your man get's into TC, you will need to be very patient with him.. they have anger management, self clarification, morals and values,AA and NA plus sap.. it is in an area by itself so he won't be with the general population.(Lysbeth, I found out that they are free to go outside, so if Brian get's into the program, he can smoke) it is in a very clean enviornment. he is going to hate being there, most of the guy's drop out of the program after a few months because it's so tough. but if he will just give it 18 months, he will have all the tools he needs to make a change in his life. Lewis came out of the program a much better person and for that I'm thankful. but you will have to have tough love and try to keep him in the program. the parole board will look close at the time he spent in TC and it will help with parole.the councilors will allow you to call them from time to time and ask how he is doing.
MR. Wofford is a nice guy or he alway's was to me.
pm me if you have more questions about St. Clair or TC.

Lysbeth and Sue

Thank you so much for the information He had heard of this program and really wants to do it, he is the type of person if he sets his mind to it he will do it. the programs at easterling have not worked for him so we are trying to get away from there so he may come home he only has 19 months left and I think this would be a better way to spend that time than at easterling dealing with he same b/s we have dealt with for the past 4 years it is a no gain place easterling and he is trying to make changes for the better for himself and our family and I am willing to support him any and every way I can...

Carrie, he can go ahead and put in the application (and probably should if he really wants to do it) but it could take 1-2 months for them to transfer him after acceptance into the program, and the problem with that in your case may be that I think - keyword being think, there - the TC program is 18 months. I know it's long. With him only having 19 months left he may not be eligible. They do have some other programs there at St. Clair tho, I'm just not sure of the details.

I have the phone number to st clair and am planning on calling on monday and see what I can do, the problem id that he classificatiuon officer st easterling is of no help and I am trying to have to find away around him, we have asked for his help for the last three years and he aslways has an excuse, so hopefully this will work, I know that Anthony really wants in the tc program so hopefully they will be able to help him and see that ecen though he only has 19 months left he doe not just want to sit around and do his time but that he is willing to do this program.. I'll keep you posted on what I find out if you would like.

LOL that's a surprise (the no help) ;) Par for the course at that prison.

Keep us posted... my guy has actually been accepted into the program but they wouldn't transfer him and now that he's got a hearing date everything's on hold... wishing you luck!!!

good luck with the hearing I will keep you both in my prayers, I would rather have him at any camp than easterling I truly believe they are the reason we were denied parole. but like I said hopefully this will work and we can finally get away from that hell hole.. Keeping fingers crossed and praying you all get parole granted..
