Hi,

I have the Guidebook, but its very hands-off and generic. Anyone have first hand experience with the Allenwood Camp?

Thank you. I head there for 18 months in a week or two (not thinking about it yet - I have a few days left to pretend its not happening) :)

My husband's been at FPC Allenwood for about 6 months. I don't have much experience as far as other prisons are concerned but this is supposed to be one of the nicer ones. One thing you should know in case it affects you is that Allenwood will soon be ending the drug program(RDAP I think). I thought it was just a rumor (there will be LOTS of rumors in prison), but the camp administrator held a meeting confirming it. Allenwood is definitely not the best camp and there are a lot of rules but you're much better off there than other places. I'm sure there's lots more I can tell you but I can probably do that better if you ask specific questions.
The most important for you to know is that you will be completely safe. Everyone there wants to go home so no one is looking for trouble. My husband was most worried about his safety esp. being a smaller guy but he's had no problems at all. I hope this helps. It's not as bad as you'd think once you get used to it.

Good Luck,
Noemi
