Does anyone know of something going down this past week at Avenal? My friend's husband has been in for 8 years and will EOS in four months. But today she called there for something and was told that he is in the hole and that "he may never get out". His counselor would not give her ANY more information about him other than saying that "the Whites and Hispanics are on modified program" so she assumes something happened like a riot or something definately between the two groups.

She is freaking out, as you might imagine. She knows that by the time she sends him paper and envelopes, stamps and a pencil, and hears back from him it could be a few weeks. So I told her that I would post on the California forum and see if anybody has heard what has happened.

If you know of anything, please let me know. Thanks.

My fiance told me that there has been alot of things going on in there and people have been hurt badly but he did not mention anything about the whites or mexicans having any kind of beef. I just hope all is ok and no more people get hurt in there.

Thanks for the response. When she calls me later tonight, I will tell her what you said and in the meanwhile, she is steady on the phone trying to get some answers. That girl is like a pit bull when she gets onto something and they ought to just give it up and tell her what she wants to know and be done with it, lol. It'd be easier on everyone. :-) Talk about persistent, lol.

My father is also there. I have not heard from him in weeks and out of concern thought I would check headlines. This website came up and I read your comments. Has anyone heard anything else?

Last Sunday the 3rd of July there was a problem on 4 yard and several were hurt and some taken to the hospital and infirmary. On Monday the 4th the whites and hispanic's were NOT allowed any visitors at all and they moved over 100 hispanics around midnight to the 3 yard gym.

I know all the CO's and MTA's were called to 4 yard and they were there til after 10pm (the day shift were)... as far as anything else I'm sorry I can't be more help but that is all that is going on as far as I know.

I haven't heard from my son at Avenal in over a week & that is very unusual. I called up there they told me he is in his regular housing so I guess that means he's ok. If I hear from him I will see if he has heard anything. My prayers are with your friend that her husband gets out as planned.

I'm sorry I put down that it happened on 4 yard and it didn't it was 2 yard I apologize for the wrong information.... sometimes my fingers type faster than my brain works :confused:
