I have a question, does anyone know if it means anything to have a rubber bands on your wrist. My husband sent me pictures with rubber bands on his wrist twice. Does anyone know this means?

I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE. DOES HE HAVE LONG HAIR OR BRAIDS??? CAUSE IF SO MAYBE HE USED THEM TO TIE HIS HAIR UP.

No he dpesnt have long hair or braids, actually its really short. I was wondering if its like sometime of gang or some stuff like that. I think its a lil shady, twice in a row. Do you think I am overacting??

Could you be mistaking there identification braclets for rubber bands? I know that at certain facilities they have them wear plastic wrist bands with there name and DOC number on them. I guess for identification purposes.

ok this is easy.... I am form the Great New Orleans and the dudes wear rubber bands on their wrist to represent there past struggles. you know how when you pull a rubberband it goes right back in place? well they wear the to say they will bounce back. Understand? i dont know if that is what it means there but here that is what it stands for... hope i helped

I don't know if any of you listen to rap music...but have you ever heard the TI song "Rubberband Man"? Well in it he says "Why the rubberbands? B/C they're representin the struggle, man" (or something close to that) I am pretty sure TI is from the South...and it works perfectly with what Trinitee729 said. Hugs:p

now, i am curious, my man usually knows all this stuff, i wonder if they do it here in southern california...he, doesn't like to teach me any of that sort of stuff, he thnks hw will corrupt me...he is so funny....but, one that is the same is being a soldier, whenever, i break up with him, he says that sort of thing, like he is hurt but he is a a soldier, ay,yay, yay..he kills me=}...it means the same as the rubberband...but, i am sure "soldier," has a lot of other uses...

I have saw the rubber bands for a while. Its a southern thing. Shows the ability to bounce back after struggling. He is probably wearing them to give himself support and remind him that he can bounce back from the prison experience.

The only thing that I have heard about rubber bands on the wrist is for behavioral changes. Like, if you want to quit smoking, every time you have an urge, you just snap the rubber band.

That's neat to know...for some strange reason, I will wear rubber bands, especially at work, so at home I have a collection of rubberbands. Maybe someday it will be a fashion statement....but I do like that it means your struggles and you can bounce back.

As for rubber bands on the wrist, inmates have a hard time getting rubber bands for thier legal papers,because thay loose them. it"s not gang relayted or anything that I know of. I'm a officer in a large prison and I have inmates ask me for rubber bands all the time. I hope this might make sense.

I am from down south in GA and all of the guys and some of the girls wear rubberbands on their arms. I don't know if you have heard of a rapper called T.I. but he has a line in one of his songs that says "Why a rubberband man, it represents the struggle man. I know some of the basketball players wear them also. Finishline sales what they call a sportsband which is nothing but an expensive rubberband that has color. I just think that it is a trend that started in the south and everyone is now doing it.

my friend told me her hubby wears it like a wedding band...it s his commitment to her!!!!

JJT answered with what I was going to say. I know from experience with my daughters addiction problems and her cutting urges that, in therapy she learned to wear rubber bands. When she gets the urge to cut or to use, she snaps the band as many times as necessary to divert her thoughts to the band, the snap and the sting away from the urge.
