On Sunday, July 4th 2004, I officially became Mrs. T! It almost turned out to be a disaster though.
Here is my story: I arrived in Dallas on Thursday night. Friday morning my sister and I get up bright and early and head to Tarrant County to try to apply for the license instead of driving all the way to Galveston. My happiness turned to panic when the clerk says, "We cant accept this absentee affidavit, it has been over 30 days since it was notarized!" I was in utter disbelief. Had I come all this way to be denied? Hell no! I called all over Texas and finally got a nice woman named Shirley in Harris County (picture attached!) that said she would accept the affidavit and grant us a license. So what did I do? I booked a last minute flight to Houston, and made it to the Harris County Clerk's office just in time to get the license. Flew back to Dallas, license in hand and a big kool aid smile on my face!
Saturday morning I start calling around to ministers to find someone to perform the marriage ceremony for me. I finally get a really nice man named Rev. Nichols.
So on Sunday, July 4th at 1:15pm, I was declared Mrs.T by Rev. Nichols. He signed the license for July 5th though to make up the 72 hours, so I guess that means we have 2 anniversarys to celebrate! It was really nice. He performed a whole ceremony, my brother in law stood in and my sister took pictures, which I have attached. Even though T was not there physically, he was definitely there in spirit. I wish I could have talked to him, but I have 6 more weeks before that can happen.
So, yes! I am married now and Im loving it! Then I went online today and they have him posted on the GDOC website now and damn he is looking good!
