ok, I actually did this after I read your post. They even sent me the postage paid box to send in my old cell phones. They verified the codes behind the battery, and I got a check for $10.00 ! :thumbsup:

If you don't need the money and are feeling charitable, some states use them for their Domestic Violence clients to have. It is programmed to contact 911 and is free to the client. A nice way to help women who live in fear.

I know that Florida and Kentucky has this program, not sure about other states.

ALSO...with the Domestic Violence idea you can use it as a tax write off and your phone WILL be worth much more than whatever they're willing to pay.

I also wantedto clarify... Phones don't have to be programmed to call 911. If you have a phone with NO contract with a provider then it's still able to call 911. Hint: If you have a teenager who is now driving and you don't want to buy them a cell phone. If you have an old/used cell phone they'd still be able to dial 911 on a cell phone with no contract.

Theres programs out there to make sure senior citizens have a cell phone in case of emergency. You may want to check in your area for these types of programs.

I still have several old cell phones. I really would rather donate them. Can somebody tell me where to start calling to find out how I can give them the phones ? I am in Florida.

Sonya - If you call the number below they could probably give you the number to the domestic violence shelter nearest you and they'd be more than willing to accept the phones. Also, you could contact any local crime victim advocacy agency and they will distribute them to DV victims. Good luck!
