Be sure to turn off the current to the lamp socket before you begin  First disassemble the socket before disconnecting the wires from the switch and removing the switch. Remove the other shell of the socket by pushing down on the metal where it fits into the socket. On most sockets, this spot is indicated by the word "Push." By pushing down at this point with a screwdriver, you can detach the shell and fiber insulation jacket inside it from the body of the switch. Remove the wires connected to the switch mechanism by loosening the terminal screws. Take out the defective switch and attach a new one to the wires. Make a knot in the wires, to fit inside the socket cap and ease the strain on the connection. This is especially important for ceiling lamps, where the entire weight of the lamp fixture is often held by the wires. It is best to replace ceiling lamp with a type of chain or other device to hold the socket cap. After the knot have been made and pulled into the socket cap, attach the two wires to the terminal screws. Tighen the screws and trim any loose strands of wire; then replace the fiber insulation shell and the metal shell. Be certain that the metal shell fits tightly into the socket cap. Turn the current back on and your ready to turn the light on......If I can do this anyone can..............minnie:cool:
