View Full Version : Ways to make extra money
California Sunshine 07-03-2004, 10:37 PM I have been doing a whole lot of thinking and searching on ways to make ends meet and I've come up with something that helps a little.I did an internet search for focus groups and paid survey groups  in my area.I found a few online, filled out applications and one has contacted me already.I have to go next week to a two hour "focus group" on restuarants and take a survey, they pay $60 for this! Not bad for two hours and that extra $$ will most certainly help me right now!
It's worth a shot to see if you can find any in your area!
Jennifer_04 07-03-2004, 10:42 PM That's interesting, thanks for the tip!
kintml2u 07-04-2004, 01:49 PM They are actually sometimes rather neat! lol
You know that yucky GREEN Ketchup??? A few years back they called me and had both my son and I come in, they paid us both. Children went into a different room with all kids and the parents sat in the room next door. It took alittle over an hour but we walked out with $70.
These places are everywhere...once your name is on their list when you fit their study, they will call you.
a.lil.love 07-04-2004, 01:51 PM Hmm that is really neat... I'm gonna look for that... I absolutely love the new forums.
California Sunshine 07-04-2004, 03:09 PM A coworker of mine did an 8 hour "mock" trial focus group through a Sacramento,Ca. firm so the lawyer could get feedback on how he did etc.
She made $400!!!!! I would die to get a call for one of those :)
come_home_soon 07-04-2004, 05:43 PM I am looking right now!! Definatly need some extra dough seeing as how I am practically diasbled right now. If I wasn't lucky enough for parents that know Robby is coming home soon and know how much I love my aprtment and how happy my son is here I don't know what I would do.I feel bad but what else can I do? Hell they have paid my insurance for the last 2 years he has been gone, the crappy part is I was making decent $$ but got downsized and let go in Feb. from a $12.00hr job. Oh well
Did you just look up focus groups?
California Sunshine 07-04-2004, 08:09 PM Yah and market research groups. Here is one listing for all states
http://www.marketsdirectory.com/
BillnDenise 07-06-2004, 05:56 PM I help my mom sell AVON...that is a little bit of money...they also have a program that you pay into each year for discounts on prescriptions, eye care, and dental care...so when I start selling on my own, I'll sign up for that too. That would help a little.
come_home_soon 07-06-2004, 07:14 PM I ound a site that has a bunch of links to focus groups and gives you the option to pick your area in most of the links. Thanks for the idea I have signed up for at least 8-10 of them.
mrsford 07-06-2004, 10:26 PM I am going to look into the focus groups thing. Sounds interesting, on top of making some extra money. Right now I sew aprons for pre-schools and take personal requests to make clothing for people. I love to do it, and not bragging, but am pretty good at it. My daughter in law is a good walking/talking advertisement for me. I make her work clothes (just the tops actually) for her job at a veternarians office. And I have made the scrubs for our local pediatricians office. Am trying to eventually start my own business, so when my husband gets home he can focus on starting one of his own. Meanwhile, I have my mother and grandkids cutting patterns out whenever I can grab them for a few minutes! I wrote in the crafts postings how I save money on the material and stuff. I work full time as a social worker for handicapped persons, and at the end of some days the last thing I want to do is cut out patterns and sew, but I take a break, start in, and the next thing I know my energy level is back up and I am having a good time! And every single extra cent helps! Good luck to everyone.

knpj2000 07-13-2004, 03:03 PM California Sunshine,
I just called 2 here in the Sacramento area and joined, they did not ask for my ssn. One was in Sacramento and the other in Roseville. Where abouts do you live? PM me if you don't want to post it in the forum. I was wondering because it sounds like you are in the Sacramento area and I am also.
knpj2000

redphoenixx 09-03-2004, 11:14 PM This is for a company that I've done surveys with for a couple of years. You don't make tons of money, but it's easy. Also, they occasionally send you products and later ask you to do a survey about them. Free stuff=good!
Here's the link: (use this and I'll get a referral!!!)

jessnkat 09-14-2004, 08:18 PM I do mystery shops and file reports on-line. I work for a few different companies doing this - some pay a small fee plus reimburse your purchase, some just reimbuse - but, hey, it's a free meal, free movie, free whatever! I've done shops at gas stations, fast food, better restaurants, previewed a movie, a cell phone company, a video game store, etc... the list goes on and on. It's fun and doesn't take up much time. You just have to be observant and pay attention to detail.
Colossians3Two 10-02-2004, 07:05 PM I help my mom sell AVON...that is a little bit of money...they also have a program that you pay into each year for discounts on prescriptions, eye care, and dental care...so when I start selling on my own, I'll sign up for that too. That would help a little.
Hi all! This is the hardest time of the year for your budget! With the holidays coming up, money is really tight. If you are interested in earning some extra money, you can have your own online business, (it's free to sign up and you get your own website, and it's free, honest!) Four different lines, Cooking, Christmas, Jewelry and Gifts and a personalized product line. It's totally free, so check it out. I have been with the company for over 2 years and it's great. I hope this is okay to post, since it's a free offer, I'm figuring it is. If I am mistaken, please accept my apologies in advance. You can take a look at my site www.richmont.net/sandisoppty4u (http://www.richmont.net/sandisoppty4u)
annas 01-25-2005, 09:39 PM I just got my first check from surveysavvy
http://my.webpicturebook.com/surveysavvy.bmp
You can find links to hundreds of free survey companies like this one at yellowsurveys.com (http://www.yellowsurveys.com/).
julie192 01-29-2005, 03:36 PM Was that a whole years worth of surveys?
Here is an easy one. You don't earn money but you can earn gift certificates. I just got a $25.00 Barnes and Noble gift certificate. www.mypoints.com (http://www.mypoints.com) . If it asks for a referrl and you would like to use me as a referral my user name is lisatures. I have been doing this one for years and at one time I cashed in on $100.00 gift certificates to Target. It is slower now to earn points but still you basically earn points by reading email and you can earn big points if you shop online through this website.
cysreese 01-29-2005, 09:58 PM Here is a place you can take a look at. Hope it's okay. If not my apologies in advance.

Re: Secret Shoppers: I've seen these and tryed to ddo them, but you always had to pay an additional fee just to get started. I'd pay the fee, if I knew the company was going to be legit and I wasn't going to get screwed.
What company/website do you use for this??
Thanks!
redphoenixx 12-09-2005, 03:29 AM Here is another one that I found. Paid me $12.70 already!

tinamcd 12-16-2005, 06:01 PM Actually the companies that want an upfront fees aren't really legitamate. I do it, and I have never paid an up front fee. Go to
Volition.com
It has all kinds of information about mystery shopping and paid surveys.
saladgirl 05-01-2006, 04:43 PM :) Well here I am... I am in need of a way to make extra money for stamps and such... Things are expsensive on the inside and the outside please help... Is secret shopping hard??
shell
JustLisa 05-05-2006, 02:17 PM I have tried the secret shopping stuff but it is hard to get into.. I have been making a couple extra hundred a month selling some things on Ebay.. it takes time, but it's kindof fun!
new2this 05-07-2006, 12:05 PM I collect cans at times...its time consuming looking for them but I burn a lot of calories doing it also!
jessnkat 05-09-2006, 01:15 PM I've done mystery shopping for a couple of companies. It is hard to get started - especially in areas that don't have large cities. But once you get in, then it's easy to do. There are tons of companies on-line - just Google 'mystery shopping'.
Also check out demo/sampling jobs in your area - one company Mass Connections - does alot of them at Super Wal-Mart. The pay is pretty good too.
mlynnm 05-11-2006, 10:58 PM I don't know about mystery shopping because I've never done it but what about selling Avon? I'm sure you could make some extra money doing that.
mrsdragoness 05-12-2006, 05:03 AM are you crafty?? It takes a little to get started, but you can make crafts and sell them at craft shows.
My daughter and I make jewelry also. We don't sell at craft shows anymore. We have tattoo shops and a couple of music shops that sell our pieces for us. All we did was take a selection of pieces to a tattoo shop and show the owners. We gave them the option of buying wholesale or selling our pieces for us for a commission (10%). We do quite well with this. If you are interested I can give you the names of some good wholesale sources for beads.

saladgirl 05-13-2006, 10:29 AM Thanks everyone.. There has been a turn of events...The love of my life just converted to Muslum and I am sad....I won't need all those stamps thank you so much...
Sad shell in Ohio
CM_ANGEL_2000 05-13-2006, 11:28 AM Why are you sad that he is Muslim? It's not a bad thing. I'm Christian and my man is Muslim, we are working through things and realizing that our love for each other and our son is more important than religion. Just wondering why you don't need the stamps anymore.
