I sent an email to the governors website back in may I believe and told him that I couldnt understand why if he was trying to get non violent prisoners out of prison, then why were the parole board denying so many of them.. I told him about my husband coming up in Dec.03 and again in March 04 and being denied both times... He sent me a letter in the mail today..."he said thank you for taking the time to contact my office regarding the matter of your husband.....he said I asked him to investigate the status of his parole hearing which I didnt ask that anyhow he wrote" he has directed my staff to forward my request to the board of pardons and paroles and he is confident that the board and their staff will fully look into these matter and take any appropraite action....please do not hesitate to contact my office again". Well I guess I got an answer sorta but does anyone think it will help or hurt?? Hopefully it wont hurt as my husband is supposed to be brought back up in October they said when he was denied...Any thought on this would be apreciated!!! Lisa!!

Hi Lisa, yeah I sent the governor an e-mail too and got a letter like three weeks later thanking me for my concerns with the prison system and if I had any more questions to feel free to contact them again.Just a bunch of bull in my opinion, but good luck.Maybe you will get some good out of it.I went so far as to e-mail the president,so far no response back,it's been a couple of weeks.

Hey thanks Sue!! I am doing ok and how are you doing and how is your husband doing.....take it he isnt home yet which is sad.....how long is it gonna take for them to cut him loose??? You are right they will do what they want to do but maybe they will look twice at it next time he comes up for parole not so quickly like they have the past 2 times.....Take care Sue and god bless you both!!

thanks Lisa. no they still haven't set a release date yet. not only is the parole board in Alabama going to do what they want to, so is the Georgia p/b. I e-mailed some of the legislators in Georgia, and still haven't heard anything from them. with this being election year you would think they would at least acknowledge a letter.

I pray they parole your husband soon and it doesn't take months for his release.
take care and God bless
sue

Yeah Lisa your right and that's basically what I had to say to him in my e-mail.I told him I know it was wrong the way they were done, but what about our people here in prison who are treated worse than you would treat an old stray dog.But I do hope you can hurry up and get your husband home.

Hi lisa...just wanted you to know I just received a letter from Bob also where I e-mailed him in May with some suggestions with the prison overcrowding. One of the things I suggested was the use of video conferencing cameras set up so the inmate could be present for their parole hearings and speak directly to the parole board members on their behalf through this technology like they are installing in some of the new jails they are building around the state. Well when I received his letter he said he was forwarding my letter to Donal Campbell for my request on an inmate E-MAILING SYSTEM???? I have no idea where that came from, I didn't e-mail him about a
e-mailing system for inmates. So I thought well he's so concerned he didn't even get what I e-mailed him right so I guess Mr. Campbell is going to wonder what the heck I'm talking about. Needless to say I'm like you I didn't appreciate him forwarding my
e-mail to the prison commissioner if I had of wanted to write Donal Campbell I would of done just THAT!!! I got the impression he didn't want to be bothered with any thing concerning ADOC and it's problems....

I e-mailed the gov. also and my response was that the Gov. has Nothing to do with the prison system and I should address my concerns to the board of pardons and parole, Yea, RIGHT, like I have been doing for the past 9 years now. So I really believe that different people answer the e-mails and it never really reach the gov. at all.

Lace...that would be a great idea about the inmate being at their own parole hearing...I dont understand why they dont have say in their own parole then maybe the parole board could see for themselves how much an inmate has changed and wants paroled...yea it sems like they dont really read what you write because they change it all around into something you didnt even ask for. The governor knows how overcrowded the prisons are here and doesnt really care about it or he would do something more to get people out more quickly instead of so many getting denied like they do. Thanks for your reply lace.....small town usa you are probably right it doesnt even reach the governor, his people just read them and answer them and thats it for that!!! Thanks you all!!! Lisa!!!
