Hello everyone. I want to let you guys know about our new publication which focus on lesbians, Trans F2M/FTMs and anyone that doesn't exactly fit society's mold on gender indentity. Our goal is to promote diversity. BAsically, a few years ago, Imyself was behind the wall in Oklahoma. I was away from my family, by myself and having no real resources as not only a lesbian but a muslim lesbian. While there I met a woman who I became involved with and we found that their was no rules from preventing us from having a committment cermony so we did just that. The backlash was rough I must say...from the minister at the facility to some staff and inmates. Yet, I could deal with that. What was hard for me was "No resources or ppl. to talk to". Now years later, I am working at a great job, good pay and have a small business of my own. I always said I would give back to those inside because hey good ppl. can in up in a bad situation...we're human. My magazine we're publishing Elegantly "L" Magazine would like to donate to any inmate wanting a issue to recieve one. So if you know of anyone maybe wanting a copy feel free to email me. We will cover many topics openly and directly. Also, anyone who would like to share their stories, or write an article are welcome to submit. If you would like to submit original artwork pls. do so. But know that anyone wishing to recieve a copy (that is doing time) can recieve copies monthly Free. If you would like to know more about our magazine please go to our website at www.elegantly-l-magazine.com and read our mission statement.
I was lucky to have the family I have that supported me when I came home. But if I was left to deal with life without a strong support structure after leaving Ii dont know how my life would have turned out. I met good people there that lent support...staff, inmates etc. This is my way of saying thank you.
