:p I'm new to this section - but not new to this site... They just moved Brooks to the Leavenworth Detention Center on the 23rd of June. He's out of Lyon County which was hell since they had him on lockdown 23 hrs a day for 3 months. He sounds better now that he has been moved, but says they have him in the hole right now.... can anyone explain exactly what the hole is?? Sorry - still learning everything... From my guess it is not as "free" as being among population, however, there are others in there and it is not as isolated as lockdown?? Does anyone know anything about LDC? What types of things can or can't you send? :confused: I do have their address and stuff like that - I just wasn't sure what I could send him. ANY info passed on would be greatly appreciated! He hasn't been to trial yet, so I'm not sure where he'll end up... we are still waiting for him to be brought to Texas to finish his stuff here too... We're slowly getting through this!

Leavenworth has a USP which is a high security facility and a satelite camp at it. I'm not familiar with a detention center at Leavenworth.

In the federal prison, the SHU which I believe stands for Special Housing Unit or Secure Housing Unit is aka the "hole". Most prisons are basically the same.... It's normal for a new arrival to be place in the "hole" when they first get there for various reasons. They don't usually stay there long unless there are reasons to keep them there.

my loved one was in the "hole" when he first got to seagoville, tx - awaiting his paperwork (which seemed to have gotten "lost") and a bed for him - which took about 2 weeks! my honey also told me of an incident where a guy was put in the "hole" for acting out in an unappropriate way.

If anyone has questions regarding seagoville, i can try to answer them for you.

:slap: Yep - he's in the hole - some guys were smoking and he decided to join... when they came and searched they found the tobacco ( no comment) in his stuff - so he's down until the 19th. I told him - he can make it easy or he can make it hard on himself - he's a big boy... So hopefully he'll watch his stuff a little better, and secondly not do things that will get him in more trouble... Yes - there is a detention center in Leavenworth - as that is where they are holding him for now.
Does anyone know about them getting to choose where there final placement is? I read somewhere that sometimes they will let them choose... Brooks was asking about the Fed pens here in Texas - so if you have ANY info on either of those things feel free to post or PM me - I would greatly appreciate it. Also - is there a chart that shows how they do their sentencing? He said someone had one in the Detention Center - so I don't know if there is one or not?? Would like info on that to.
